Danielle de Picciotto is an American-born artist, musician and filmmaker. [1] She was born in Tacoma, Washington, USA [2] and currently lives and works in Berlin, Germany. In 1989 she founded, along with her then partner Dr. Motte, the first Berlin Love Parade. [3]
De Picciotto was the initiator of Berlin's "Clubart Movement" in 1992. [4] She was vocalist for Space Cowboys and The Ocean Club (with Gudrun Gut). [5] She was curator of the Gallery „Das Institut“ from 1996-1987, created the exhibition and event series "Kunst oder König / in", to promote Berlin artists, DJs, and musicians. [6] She was a member of the Berlin art movement Pop Surrealism. [7] She sang for Die Haut together with Anita Lane, Nick Cave and Kid Congo Powers. [8]
She married her longtime partner Alexander Hacke, bassist of Einstürzende Neubauten in 2006.
De Picciotto collaborates with the Goethe Institut internationally on presenting Berlin's cultural scene [9] and was commissioned by the German Foreign Ministry to direct a short film on European Club Culture in 2008. In 2012, she became a member of the band Crime & the City Solution .
She was featured as an important artist in the documentary In Berlin by Michael Ballhaus and Ciro Cappellari. [10]
In 2016, she was invited to do a course on interdisciplinary performance at the HfG at ZKM Center for Media Art in Karlsruhe. Panels and talks have also been also offered at NYU, Berlin and the Folkwang University, Bochum. [11]
The Tiger Lillies are a British musical trio formed in 1989 by singer-songwriter Martyn Jacques. Described as the forefathers of Brechtian Punk Cabaret, the Tiger Lillies are known for their unique sound and style which merges "the macabre magic of pre-war Berlin with the savage edge of punk".
Zeichnungen des Patienten O. T. is the second studio album by the Berlin-based musical group Einstürzende Neubauten. Some Bizzare Records released the album in 1983, and it was distributed in Germany by Rough Trade Deutschland. In the United States, PVC/Jem Records released the album in 1984 as Drawings of O. T.
Crime & the City Solution are an Australian rock band formed in late 1977 by singer-songwriter and mainstay Simon Bonney. They disbanded in 1979 leaving only bootleg recordings and demos. In late 1983, Bonney moved to London and in 1985 he formed a new version of the group which included members of the recently disbanded The Birthday Party. They eventually settled in West-Berlin and issued four albums – Room of Lights (1986), Shine (1988), The Bride Ship (1989) and Paradise Discotheque (1990) – before disbanding again in 1991. In 2012, Bonney reformed the band in Detroit with two veterans of its Berlin era and a handful of new members.

Michael Ballhaus, A.S.C. was a German cinematographer. He is known for his work with directors including Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Martin Scorsese, Mike Nichols, James L. Brooks, and Wolfgang Petersen. He was a member of both the Academy of Arts, Berlin, and the American Society of Cinematographers.
Strategies Against Architecture '80–'83, also spelled 80–83 Strategies Against Architecture, is a 1984 compilation album by the German industrial band Einstürzende Neubauten. It consists of material recorded from 1980 to 1983, and features roughly half of the band's debut 1981 LP Kollaps along with single-only tracks and live material. It was originally released on Mute Records and is currently being sold without authority by Rough Trade.

Botanica was a New-York based band, originally founded in Los Angeles in 1999. Led by Paul Wallfisch, a keyboardist and singer associated with Firewater, the band drew its name from the Botánica stores, which trade in folk medicine, amulets, and other products regarded as magical or as alternative medicine. On January 15, 2014, the band announced via its Facebook page and official website that it was "on indefinite leave.".
Potomak is an artist record label for the German experimental rock band Einstürzende Neubauten. It was founded by the band's front man Blixa Bargeld in 1988 to support the re-release of the band's Kollaps album on CD format. It also enabled the band to assume ownership of their music and operate outside of a label contract. Potomak also serves as the label for band member's solo projects and has released albums from Alexander Hacke, Rudolph Moser and Blixa Bargeld. Potomak releases are distributed through Rykodisc and Indigo.

Lary 7, aka. L7 is an American artist, sound-artist, musician and filmmaker, based in New York City. He is subject of a documentary by filmmaker Danielle de Picciotto called Not Junk Yet - The Art Of Lary 7. The film includes interviews with Lary and other musicians, along with archival footage, images and performances. De Picciotto directed the film herself, with sound production by her husband and collaborator, Einstürzende Neubauten member Alexander Hacke.
Robert Rutman was a German visual artist, musician, composer, and instrument builder. Best known for his work with homemade idiophones in his Steel Cello Ensemble, Rutman is regarded as a pioneer of multimedia performance in his mixing of music, sculpture, film, and visual art.
