Danny Polfliet (born 31 May 1977), known professionally as Danny Vera, is a Dutch singer-songwriter and musician. [1]

Career

Danny Vera started his first band Till Dawn in 1999, with which he won the "Zeeuwse Belofte" award. He chose the stage name Danny Vera to honor his mother, whose first name was Vera. She died in 2001, when Vera was 24. Soon after, he signed a contract with Universal Music Group. [2]

He released his first solo album For the Light in Your Eyes in 2003. [3]

In April 2009 Vera went to Hilltop Studios in Nashville, Tennessee to record his fourth album, Pink Flamingo. [4]

Football pundit Johan Derksen's successful insistence that Danny Vera would play in his TV talkshows VI and Voetbal Inside launched Vera's musical career. [5]

In 2019 his song "Roller Coaster" from his seventh album Pressure Makes Diamonds Part II finally hit the Dutch charts. [6] One year later, the song went on to rank first in the annual Dutch Top 2000. [7]

Personal life

In the 2020 documentary Danny Vera: Van oma’s kelder tot Carré Vera said he hasn't eaten meat "for years". [8]

Vera married his wife Escha Tanihatu in 2013. [9]

ASWH, short for Altijd Sterker Worden Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, is an association football club from Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, Netherlands. The club was founded in 1929. It won section championships in 1949, 1959, 1961, 1970, 1883, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2005, and 2024. In 2005 ASWH also won the Dutch Championship of Amateur Soccer and the Dutch Championship of Saturday Soccer. Johannes Gerrit "Johan" Derksen is a Dutch sports journalist and former football player. He played professional football between 1966 and 1978 for six clubs: Go Ahead Eagles, Cambuur, Veendam, HFC Haarlem, SV Meppen and MVV Maastricht. During and after his footballing career, he became a sports journalist, specialising in football. He was the editor-in-chief of Voetbal International, the Netherlands' most prominent football magazine, from 2000 until his retirement in 2013. Derksen was while working at Voetbal International and after his retirement a television football pundit on RTL7's Voetbal International and Veronica Inside on Veronica TV. His current TV talkshow is Vandaag Inside on SBS6.
