Darbara Singh Guru is an Indian politician belongs to the Shiromani Akali Dal party and a retired IAS officer. He remained the Principal Secretary to former Chief Minister of Punjab,Parkash Singh Badal from 2007 to 2011. [1] He has also remained the Deputy Commissioner for Jalandhar. He contested for the 2019 2019 Indian General Election in Punjab from the constituency of Fatehgarh Sahib district but lost to Amar Singh from Indian National Congress putting up a tough fight. [2]
Guru's name was featured in the Punjab and Haryana High Court petition,accused of indiscriminate firing and killing of 4 Sikh youth in Nakodar in 1986. He was the officiating Deputy Commissioner for Jalandhar in February 1986 and also officiated as the District Magistrate. [3] Following the sacrilege on Gurdwara Guru Arjan in Nakodar on 2 February 1986,Darbara signed the curfew orders for 3 February. He ordered the protesters to go to a different location where the police opened fire.[ citation needed ]
Darbara Singh Guru has denied any association with the killings. [4]

The 1978 Sikh–Nirankari clash occurred between the Sant Nirankari Mission and Sikhs of Damdami Taksal and Akal Kirtani Jatha on 13 April 1978 at Amritsar,Punjab,India. Sixteen people—thirteen traditional Sikhs and three Nirankari followers—were killed in the ensuing violence,occurring when some Akhand Kirtani Jatha and Damdami Taksal members led by Fauja Singh protested against and tried to stop a convention of Sant Nirankari Mission followers. This incident is considered to be a starting point in the events leading to Operation Blue Star and the 1980s insurgency in Punjab.
Sukhbir Singh Badal is an Indian politician and Sikh rights advocate who served thrice as the Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and is currently the president of Shiromani Akali Dal,along with being a member of Parliament from the Firozpur Lok Sabha constituency. He is the son of Parkash Singh Badal,who has served five times as the Chief Minister of Punjab. He holds lots of power over the Sikh organizations of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. A businessman at heart,Badal and his family have ownership stakes in an array of businesses- including real estate,transport and other activities to promote Punjab's economic condition on a national level.
The 2015 Guru Granth Sahib desecration refers to a series of desecration incidents of the Sikh Guru Guru Granth Sahib and subsequent protests that took place in Punjab,India in October 2015,although it is known as the 2015 Guru Granth Sahib desecration it started from 2014 and continues till 2021. The first incident of desecration was reported from Bargari,Faridkot district,where 110 torn Angs of the holy Book were found on 12 October. On the early morning hours of 14 October,two Sikhs were peacefully protesting and were shot dead by the police as the protesters were sitting in demonstration.
