Dark Matters is the ninth album by the Finnish rock band The Rasmus, which was released in Finland on 8 October 2017. [1] It is their first album after five years of inactivity, as a continuation of their previous album The Rasmus (2012).
The album is characterized by the musical genres that predominate in the songs, between electropop and electronic rock, although they preserve their classic style of alternative rock.
Dark Matters is The Rasmus's first album in eight years to be released by Playground Music, after Best of The Rasmus 2001–2009 . The album was originally announced for a 22 September release, but was delayed to 2 October. Singer Lauri Ylönen has commented that "The idea behind the new songs was to make the kind of music that we ourselves would like to hear, we have not forgotten the Nordic melancholy, but also, our new songs have a great number of influences." Dark Matters is like a roller and roller coaster with many different themes and personal feelings. "
A music video for "Wonderman" was directed by Jesse Haaja and premiered on YouTube on 26 September 2017.
On 1 December, of the same year the official video of "Silver Night" directed by Vesa Manninen was released, in which they show us a solitary robot in a house. It is the first official video where the members of the band do not appear.
On 26 January 2018, a new official video of The Rasmus is released: "Nothing", which was directed by the bassist of the group Eero Heinonen.
During the tour of the group in Russia in March of this year, the band is filming a new official video, this time for the song "Empire".

The Rasmus is a Finnish rock band that formed in 1994 in Helsinki while the band members were in upper comprehensive school. The original band members were Lauri Ylönen, Eero Heinonen (bass), Pauli Rantasalmi (guitar) and Jarno Lahti (drums). Jarno Lahti left the year after and was replaced by Janne Heiskanen in 1995. Heiskanen quit the band in 1999 and was soon replaced by Aki Hakala. Pauli Rantasalmi left the band and was replaced by guitarist Emilia "Emppu" Suhonen in 2022. Best known for their 2003 hit single "In the Shadows", the band has sold over 5 million albums worldwide and 350,000 albums in Finland alone, and has won numerous awards, both domestic and international. The band represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song "Jezebel".
Dead Letters is the fifth album by Finnish band The Rasmus released in 2003. It was released later in 2004 in the US, UK and Australia. Their previous album, Into, had seen some success in some parts of Europe, particularly Scandinavia and Germany, but Dead Letters signified the band's major break-through. The album received 8 Gold and 6 Platinum music certification awards. Lead single "In the Shadows" received 6 gold and 2 platinum awards, selling over 1 million copies and breaking the record for performance royalties received abroad on a Finnish composition.

It was later released in the United States on 10 October 2006, and featured a selection of B-side remixes and special edition bonus tracks. The US edition also included the previously unseen video for "Immortal". The name "Hide from the Sun" is a quotation from the song "Dead Promises". The album cover was painted by guitarist Pauli Rantasalmi.
