He spent the majority of his career as a center fielder and leadoff hitter for the Orioles in the 1990s,where he was a three-time All Star,and,in 1996,became the 15th player in major league history to hit 50 home runs in one season. The Houston Astros selected Eshelman in the 2015 MLB draft,and traded him to the Philadelphia Phillies after the 2015 season. He was traded to the Baltimore Orioles during the 2019 season.
