Darshan Ashwin Trivedi is an Indian film director and academician best known for his contribution for Gujarati cinema. [1] He is known for his movies Mrugtrushna , Mara Pappa Superhero , Lakiro and Keri. [2] [3] [4] [5] He is Adjunct faculty at MICA. [6]

Early life

Darshan Ashwin Trivedi was born on 4 August 1977 in Ahmedabad, India. He has done Master in Development Communications from Gujarat University and PhD from Gujarat National Law University. [7] During his career he has worked with brands like Zoom (Indian TV channel), Reliance Broadcast Network, [7] Moving Pixels, Neela Tele Films. [8]

Career

He started working with radio and television networks in the early years of his career. Darshan has worked with Sony Entertainment Television, Radio Mirchi , Zoom , Reliance Broadcast Network, [7] Moving Pixels, Neela Tele Films. [8] Darshan is the former founder of Gujarati film fraternity. [9]

Darshan started teaching in MICA in 2007. He teaches Media & Entertainment management. He works as an adjunct faculty with MICA. [10] Darshan is the editor of the Indian OTT Platforms Report published by MICA. [11]

Darshan started his filmmaking career in 2018. [10] His debut feature film Mrugtrushna is the first part of the trilogy. [12] His second film Mara Pappa Superhero is written by Sahita Academy awarded writer Raam Mori. His third film Lakiro explores Jazz music for the first time in Gujarati cinema. [13] His fourth film Keri stars Bollywood Actor Rohit Roy and Ahmedabad based Radio Jockey Devaki. [14]

Bey Yaar is a 2014 Indian Gujarati-language coming-of-age film directed by Abhishek Jain. The film is about friendship and focuses on two childhood friends. The film stars Manoj Joshi, Darshan Jariwala, Divyang Thakkar, Pratik Gandhi, Amit Mistry, Samvedna Suwalka. The film was released on 29 August 2014. It received positive reviews and became a box-office success. It completed 50 weeks in theatres. The film was screened at the New York Indian Film Festival, becoming the first ever Gujarati film hosted by the festival.

The plot follows four children living on the bank of the river and their dreams of crossing the river. Mara Pappa Superhero is a 2021 Indian Gujarati-language film directed by Darshan Ashwin Trivedi. Written by Raam Mori, the film stars Abhinay Banker, Shraddha Dangar, Revanta Sarabhai and Bhushan Bhatt in lead roles. The film also stars Bhavya Sirohi, Bharat Thakkar, Priyanka Raja, and Janushi Oza in supporting role. The plot follows the relationship of daughter with her parents. Produced under Saiffron Entertainment, Mara Pappa Superhero is the second film of Trivedi after Mrugtrushna.
