Dating The Enemy is a 1996 Australian comedy about a couple who swap bodies and have to live each other's lives.
One Valentine's Day evening, a group of single, dateless friends get together to play Trivial Pursuit. The brash and self-confident Brett (Guy Pearce) has just landed a job as presenter of a TV gossip show. Tash (Claudia Karvan) is a studious and self-conscious science journalist for a national newspaper,. They have nothing in common, but decide to get together.
A year later Brett's career is going well, with the possibility of a job in New York, and popularity has gone to his head. Tash is still trying to write serious scientific articles for a newspaper that is more interested in gossip and sex, with her articles therefore frequently buried on page 12. Their relationship is on the rocks.
During a Valentine's Day boat trip on a full moon night in Sydney Harbour, an argument ensues and Brett decides he has had enough and ends the relationship. Tash tells him: 'I wish you could be me, so you could see how I feel for once. I wish I could be you, so I could show you what an idiot you've become!'.
They wake to find that they have swapped bodies, and must learn what it is really like to be in the other person's shoes. Tash has to try to keep Brett's high-profile career on track, while Brett is so bored by Tash's job, he ends up trying to make science sexy. Each learns to appreciate the other as only together can they make the enforced predicament work.
The film was co-financed by the French distributor Pandora Film.
The soundtrack includes the OMC song "Right On". The original video for "Right On" features clips from the movie.

Libby Kennedy is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Neighbours, played by Kym Valentine. She made her first appearance during the episode broadcast on 3 October 1994. Valentine auditioned for the role when she was 15, and upon being cast as Libby, she relocated from Sydney to Melbourne, where the show is filmed. Libby was introduced along with her parents and brothers during a period of low ratings for the show. Valentine departed on 2 October 2003, before returning for six months the following year and a single episode on 27 July 2005. She returned on a permanent basis on 12 November 2007.

Claudia Karvan is an Australian actress and producer. As a child actor, she first appeared in the film Molly (1983) and followed with an adolescent role in High Tide (1987). She portrayed a teacher in The Heartbreak Kid (1993) – the film was spun off into a TV series, Heartbreak High (1994–1999), with her character taken over by Sarah Lambert. Karvan's roles in television series include The Secret Life of Us (2001–2005), Love My Way (2004–2007), Newton's Law (2017) and Halifax: Retribution (2020). She won Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Television Drama at the AFI Awards for her appearance in G.P. (1996). She won two similar AFI Awards for her role in Love My Way and in 2014 for her work in The Time of Our Lives (2013–2014). As a co-producer and co-writer on Love My Way, she won three further AFI Awards for Best Drama Series in 2005, 2006 and 2007. Karvan was inducted into the Australian Film Walk of Fame in 2007 in acknowledgment of her contributions to the Australian film and television industry. From 2010 to 2011, she starred in the drama series Spirited, which she co-created and was executive producer. She appeared as Judy Vickers in Puberty Blues. Karvan has co-produced House of Hancock and Doctor Doctor (2016–2021). In 2021 she co-created, co-produced and starred in the TV drama series, Bump.
Mike Young is a fictional character from the Australian television soap opera Neighbours, played by Guy Pearce. Pearce was in his final year at school and only had amateur theatre experience when he auditioned for the role. After winning the part of Mike, Pearce soon relocated to Melbourne and began filming in December 1985. He made his first appearance during the episode broadcast on 20 January 1986. Mike's arrival was part of an attempt to give the serial a youthful look. He was given immediate links to the other character through a friendship with Scott Robinson, who helps him secure work at the local coffee shop.
