David Allan Goltz (born June 23,1949) is a former professional baseball player who pitched in the Major Leagues from 1972 to 1983.
Dave Goltz attended high school in Rothsay,Minnesota where he was a multi-sport star athlete. Goltz signed with the Twins organization out of high school for $20,000. He began his career with the Twins in the Gulf Coast Rookie League in 1967 and moved up to single-A St. Cloud in 1968. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves as a helicopter mechanic and his unit was called to active duty in 1969,postponing his baseball career. He returned to the minors after his Army obligation in 1970 and hurt his arm in AA. After rehab,he spent 1971 with two single-A teams,going a combined 14–3 with Orlando and Lynchburg. He moved to AAA Tacoma in 1972 and was called up to the majors in July 1972 when Jim Kaat went on the disabled list. He won his first Major League start against the Milwaukee Brewers.
After going 6-4 his rookie season,Goltz had three consecutive seasons of .500 records,8–8 in 1974 and back-to-back 14–14 seasons in 1975 and 1976. In 1977,Goltz won a career-high 20 games for the Twins and tied with Dennis Leonard and Jim Palmer for most wins in the American League. [1]
Goltz appeared in the 1981 World Series as a member of the Dodgers.

Rodney Cline Carew is a Panamanian former professional baseball player and coach. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a first baseman,second baseman and designated hitter from 1967 to 1985 for the Minnesota Twins and the California Angels. The most accomplished contact hitter in Twins history,he won the 1977 AL Most Valuable Player Award,setting a Twins record with a .388 batting average. Carew appeared in 18 straight All-Star Games and led the AL in hits three times,with his 239 hits in 1977 being the twelfth most in a season at the time. He won seven AL batting titles,the second most AL batting titles in history behind Ty Cobb,and on July 12,2016 the AL batting title was renamed to the Rod Carew American League batting title.
Douglas Reagan Ault was an American professional baseball first baseman and designated hitter who played for the Texas Rangers (1976) and Toronto Blue Jays. He is best known for hitting the first two home runs in Blue Jays history,in the team's first Major League Baseball (MLB) game on April 7,1977,a 9–5 Toronto win against the Chicago White Sox.
César Leonardo Tovar,nicknamed "Pepito" and "Mr. Versatility",was a Venezuelan professional baseball player,who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Minnesota Twins (1965–1972),Philadelphia Phillies (1973),Texas Rangers (1974–1975),Oakland Athletics (1975–1976),and New York Yankees (1976). Tovar was an extremely versatile player capable of playing various defensive positions on the field. In 1968,he became only the second player in MLB history to play all nine field positions during a single game,a feat first accomplished by Bert Campaneris,in 1965. Tovar also had a prolific career in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (VPBL),where he played 26 seasons –second only to the 30 seasons played by Vic Davalillo.
Kent Alan Hrbek,nicknamed "Herbie",is a former American Major League Baseball first baseman. He played his entire 14-year baseball career with the Minnesota Twins (1981–1994). Hrbek batted left-handed and threw right-handed. He hit the first home run in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome on April 3,1982,in an exhibition game against the Phillies. Fans knew Hrbek as an outstanding defensive player,perennial slugger,and charismatic hometown favorite. Former Twins pitcher Jim Kaat considered Hrbek to be the best defensive first baseman he had ever seen. Hrbek attended Kennedy High School in Bloomington,Minnesota.
John Rikard Dempsey is an American former professional baseball player. He played for 24 seasons as a catcher in Major League Baseball from 1969 to 1992,most prominently for the Baltimore Orioles where he played for 10 years and was a member of the 1983 World Series winning team. Dempsey was known for being one of the best defensive catchers of his era. In 1997,he was inducted into the Baltimore Orioles Hall of Fame.

He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a left-handed pitcher for the Washington Senators / Minnesota Twins (1959–1973),Chicago White Sox (1973–1975),Philadelphia Phillies (1976–1979),New York Yankees (1979–1980),and St. Louis Cardinals (1980–1983). His 25-year playing career spanned four decades.
James William "Junior" Gilliam was an American second baseman,third baseman,and coach in Negro league and Major League Baseball who spent his entire major league career with the Brooklyn / Los Angeles Dodgers. He was named the 1953 National League Rookie of the Year,and was a key member of ten National League championship teams from 1953 to 1978. As the Dodgers' leadoff hitter for most of the 1950s,he scored over 100 runs in each of his first four seasons and led the National League in triples in 1953 and walks in 1959. Upon retirement,he became one of the first African-American coaches in the major leagues.

Led by new manager Bill Rigney,the 1970 Minnesota Twins won the American League West with a 98–64 record,nine games ahead of the Oakland Athletics. The Twins were swept by the Baltimore Orioles in the American League Championship Series. Of note,the Twins were the only team in the American League to have a winning record in the regular season versus the Orioles. After the ALCS,Metropolitan Stadium would never see another post-season game,and the Twins would not return to the postseason stage until 1987 when they won the World Series.

The 1986 Minnesota Twins finished at 71–91,sixth in the AL West,21 games behind the eventual AL runner-up California Angels. 1,255,453 fans attended Twins games,the second lowest total in the American League. Pitcher Bert Blyleven made a prediction on Fan Appreciation Day on October 3,saying that if the team came together as a unit and signed some other good players,they could potentially bring a World Series championship to Minnesota. That prediction proved accurate the next year.

He played 12 years in Major League Baseball,appearing in 979 games for the Detroit Tigers (1973-1977),Cleveland Indians (1978-1981),New York Mets (1982),and Chicago Cubs (1983-1984). He ranked third in the American League in 1977 with a range factor of 5.16 per nine innings at shortstop. His career range factor of 4.841 per nine innings at shortstop ranks as the 25th best in Major League history.

While mainly a right fielder throughout his career,González was the Rockies' starting left fielder from 2010-2014;in 2015 he transitioned to right field.
