Dave Shondell (born January 17, 1958) is the head women's volleyball coach at Purdue University.
Shondell was raised in Muncie, Indiana. He began his career at Daleville High School in Daleville, Indiana, just outside Muncie. After his tenure there, he then moved to Muncie Central High School, in Muncie. While at Muncie Central and Daleville, he earned about 600 wins with roughly a .850 winning percentage, 4 state championships, and a mythical national runner-up. He was also recognized as the 2002 National Coach of the Year by Prepvolleyball.com. He took over as director the Munciana Volleyball Club while at Muncie Central. Munciana earned almost 20 national championships under Shondell's direction. It is still known as one of the premier volleyball clubs in the country. In 2003, he accepted the Women's Volleyball coaching job at Purdue University. In his twenty-two years at Purdue, Shondell has accumulated over 450 victories, eighteen NCAA Tournament berths, eleven trips to the Sweet Sixteen, and four trips to the Elite Eight. [1]
Throughout his career at Purdue University, Shondell has gradually enhanced the program's Big Ten standings. [2]

Shondell is part of one of the most well-known families in volleyball.
Shondell is the son of Dr. Don Shondell. Shondell's brother is Steve Shondell, former head women's volleyball coach at Ball State University. Shondell's other brother, John, was one of his longtime assistants at Purdue. [1] Shondell's youngest child Kyle is the head coach at Butler.
The Purdue Boilermakers are the official intercollegiate athletics teams representing Purdue University, located in West Lafayette, Indiana. As is common with athletic nicknames, the Boilermakers nickname is also used as colloquial designation of Purdue's students and alumni at large. The nickname is often shortened to "Boilers" by fans. Purdue is one of the few college athletic programs that is not funded by student fees or subsidized by the university.
Lloyd Eugene Keady is an American Hall of Fame basketball coach. He is best known for his 25 years serving as the head men's basketball coach at Purdue University in Indiana. In his tenure leading the Boilermakers from 1980 to 2005, he went to the NCAA Tournament seventeen times, twice advancing to the Elite Eight.
The Indiana Hoosiers are the intercollegiate sports teams and players of Indiana University Bloomington, named after the demonym for people from the state of Indiana. Don Stuart Shondell was an American volleyball coach. He was the patriarch of one of the best known families in American volleyball. As the head coach of the Ball State Cardinals men's volleyball team he compiled a career record of 769–280–6 (.732), affording him the second highest number of wins in NCAA men's volleyball history, behind UCLA's Al Scates.
The Michigan State Spartans men's basketball team is the intercollegiate men's basketball program representing Michigan State University. The school competes in the Big Ten Conference of NCAA Division I college basketball. The Spartans have won two NCAA championships and 16 Big Ten Championships. Russell David Rose is an American former volleyball coach who was the women's volleyball coach at Penn State University from 1979 to 2021. His lifetime head coaching record is 1330–229, which ranks first in NCAA Division I history. He has the most wins and highest winning percentage of any Penn State intercollegiate athletic coach in Penn State history.

John G. Cook is an American volleyball coach who is the head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers. In twenty-five seasons at NU, he has led the Huskers to four national championships and fifteen conference titles. Prior to Nebraska, Cook served as head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers for seven seasons. He earned his 800th career win in 2022 and ranks twelfth all-time in coaching wins in major college volleyball history. Cook is a three-time AVCA National Coach of the Year.
Mick Haley is an American volleyball coach. He previously served for 17 seasons as the head coach of the University of Southern California women's volleyball team. He has also coached the U.S. Women's National Team at the Olympics. Prior to this he served for 17 years as the head coach of the University of Texas women's volleyball team.
The Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons, formerly known as the IPFW Mastodons and Fort Wayne Mastodons, are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent Purdue University Fort Wayne (PFW). The school's athletic program includes 16 varsity sports teams. Their mascot is a Mastodon named Don, and the school colors are black and gold. The university participates in the NCAA's Division I as members of the Horizon League in all varsity sports except for men's volleyball, which competes in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association. Sharon Versyp is an American former basketball player who is the head coach of the University of South Carolina Beaufort women's basketball team and the former head coach of the Purdue University women's basketball team from 2006 to 2021. She was Indiana's High School Miss Basketball in 1984 and an All-America at Purdue.
Armond J. "Arnie" Ball is an American retired volleyball coach best known for his 35 seasons as head coach of the men's volleyball team at Indiana University – Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), now known as the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons. He ended his career in 2015 with a total of 570 wins as coach of the IPFW men, and also won 230 games as head coach of the IPFW women's team in the 1980s.
