David Barnes (born November 1, 1977) is an artist, performer, and comedian best known for being the art director for his sibling Kevin's indie pop band, of Montreal.
Barnes has contributed artwork for his sibling's band, of Montreal, including covers for Aldhils Arboretum , Satanic Panic in the Attic , The Sunlandic Twins , and False Priest . The covers typically have unique color schemes and illustrations achieved through a combination of thick watercolors, markers, and ink. Barnes also contributed a T-shirt, tote bag, and wall decal designs for the Skeletal Lamping collection, which re-imagined the concept of album packaging by including digital album downloads in a variety of different art pieces.
In 2008 he designed the album artwork for Sand Fastened, the debut album from the band Fire Zuave, which features singing by a Chuck Andrews (a cousin of Barnes'). [1]
Barnes has also created art for Automaton Snowboards.
On April 26, 2011, Barnes released his debut book, "What's Weird," featuring 128 pages of paintings, drawings, sketches, and many more. The book comes with a commentary by Barnes. [2]
David also works on of Montreal's music videos, including "Gronlandic Edit.". [3] Along with Jason Miller and Apollinaire Rave, he co-wrote and appears in the video for "Coquet Coquette," [4] from of Montreal's 2010 album False Priest .
In addition to conceptualizing of Montreal's stage productions as well as designing their sets and props, David also often appears as a performer during the band's concerts. Along with of Montreal, he has performed on Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and Late Night with Conan O'Brien.
In 2005, Barnes worked with his sibling and his sister-in-law, Nina, on A Pollinaire Rave, a touring comedy production.
In July 2008, Kevin and David performed skits, under the name Disney Herpes, [5] opening for Fire Zuave [6] in Athens, Georgia.

Jakalope is a Canadian Indie pop/rock group. They are named for the fictional animal of the same name, although the animal's name is more commonly spelled jackalope. A CD by the same name was sold, and five of the seven songs on the EP became songs on the Montreal album Satanic Panic in the Attic.
Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? is the eighth album by American indie pop band of Montreal, released on January 7, 2007. The album was written, performed, and recorded by Kevin Barnes, with assistance from friends and family: prominent Elephant Six members Bryan Poole, Jamey Huggins and Heather McIntosh, as well as Barnes' wife Nina Grottland, credited as Nina Twin, and daughter Alabee Barnes, credited as Alabee Blonde. Credits also feature Georgie Fruit, a glam rock alter ego of Barnes.
Icons, Abstract Thee is an EP from indie pop band of Montreal. It was released January 23, 2007, along with the album Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? and the promo CD single "Heimdalsgate Like a Promethean Curse". It is a collection of songs from recent singles, bonus tracks from the vinyl edition of Hissing Fauna, and a song that was put up on the band's Myspace page.

False Priest is the tenth full-length studio album by indie-pop group of Montreal, released on September 14, 2010 by Polyvinyl Records on CD, digital, and 180-gram vinyl in both red and black. In addition, Joyful Noise Recordings released a limited-edition cassette version of the album, making False Priest the first of Montreal album ever released on cassette.
