Warwickshire County Cricket Club start 2005 as defending county champions and 11–4 favourites to retain their title. They play their totesport League cricket in Division Two. Warwickshire won the title in 2004 through their batting,and they have further enhanced it with the addition of Alex Loudon.

His time at Warwickshire was a particularly successful one for the club,winning 6 trophies between 1993 and 1995;as a crucial part of that side,Munton was honoured as one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 1995.

A right-handed batsman and occasional right-arm leg break bowler,Taylor made his debut in first-class cricket in 2008 for Leicestershire and made major impressions in his first county seasons. He is noted as being a fine fielder in the covers. He became the youngest Leicestershire one-day centurion and first-class double centurion. In 2009,Taylor also became the youngest player in Leicestershire's history to score 1,000 championship runs in a season.
Steven Joseph "Steve" O'Shaughnessy is a former English professional cricketer who played for Lancashire and Worcestershire in the 1980s,and then had a substantial career in Minor Counties cricket with Cumberland. Since retiring from playing,he has become an umpire,and was promoted in December 2010 to the first-class panel for the 2011 season.
Alan Paul Pridgeon is a former English cricketer who played first-class and List A cricket for Worcestershire County Cricket Club,taking 530 first-class and 273 List A wickets for the county between the early 1970s and the late 1980s. He was born in Clapham,London and educated at Rutlish School which he attended from 1976 to 1982. An all-rounder,Bullen played for Surrey County Cricket Club,Bedfordshire County Cricket Club and the Surrey Cricket Board in a career which spanned from 1982 to 2002.

The 2013 County Championship season,known as the LV= County Championship for sponsorship reasons,was the 114th cricket County Championship season. It was contested through two divisions:Division One and Division Two. Each team played all the others in their division both home and away. Durham were County Champions for the third time in six seasons. The top two teams from Division Two,Lancashire and Northamptonshire,gained promotion to the first division for the 2014 season,while the bottom two sides from Division One—Derbyshire and Surrey—were relegated to Division Two for 2014.
Leslie Maynard Ward was an English cricketer who made one appearance in first-class cricket in 1930. He was a right-handed batsman,who bowled both right-arm medium and right-arm off break.
The 1967 Gillette Cup Final was a one-day cricket match between Kent County Cricket Club and Somerset County Cricket Club played on 2 September 1967 at Lord's in London. It was the fifth final of the Gillette Cup,the first English domestic knock-out competition between first-class sides. Both teams were making their first appearance in the final. Kent were regarded as pre-match favourites given their good form all season,in both one-day and first-class cricket.
