The Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George is a British order of chivalry founded on 28 April 1818 by George, Prince of Wales, while he was acting as prince regent for his father, King George III. It is named in honour of two military saints, Michael and George.

He also held posts in Geneva, Ulan Bator, Pretoria, Tirana, Belgrade, and Pristina.

Desmond Patrick Neil Wigan is a British diplomat who is the current British High Commissioner to Kenya. He previously served as the UK Ambassador to Somalia from 2013 to 2015. He also served as the British ambassador to Israel, June 2019 to June 2023, replacing David Quarrey. In June 2023, he was appointed the British High Commissioner to Kenya, replacing Jane Marriott.
Sir Geoffrey Wedgwood Harrison was a British diplomat, who served as the United Kingdom's ambassador to Brazil, Iran and the Soviet Union. Harrison's tenure in Moscow was terminated in 1968, when he was recalled to London after his admission to the Foreign Office that he had an affair with his Russian maid, later revealed as a KGB "honey trap" operation.
Michael John Gifford is a British diplomat who has been the United Kingdom's Ambassador to Kazakhstan since January 2018.
Dame Barbara Janet Woodward is a British diplomat and China expert. She is the current Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the United Nations, having previously served as British Ambassador to China from 2015 to 2020, the first woman to hold that position.
Sir Leslie Alfred Charles Fry was a British diplomat, who served as Ambassador to Hungary, Indonesia and Brazil. He was awarded Grand Cross of the Order of the Southern Cross by the Government of Brazil. When the Soviet Union invaded Hungary in 1956 to repress the Hungarian Revolution, he opened the doors of the British embassy to Hungarian refugees, receiving a knighthood the following year.
