Alexander David Hurtado Espinosa [lower-alpha 1] (born 21 April 1999) is an Ecuadorian racewalking athlete. He represented Ecuador at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the men's 20 kilometres walk.
Hurtado began racewalking at age 12 at school in Pichincha, Ecuador when his teacher introduced him to the sport. He was also inspired after watching Ecuadorian Olympic medal-winning racewalker Jefferson Pérez at the 2008 Summer Olympics. [1]
At the 2017 Ecuadorian Race Walking Championships, Hurtado set the South American under-20 and under-23 record for the 10 kilometres race walk with a time of 39:41. [2]
Hurtado represented Ecuador at the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships in the 10,000 metres walk and won a silver medal. He finished six thousandths of a second behind gold medal winner Yao Zhang. [1]
Hurtado represented Ecuador at the 2019 South American Championships in the 20,000 meters walk and won a silver medal. [2]
He represented Ecuador at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the men's 20 kilometres walk and finished in 19th place. [3] [4]
Cristian Andrés Chocho León is an Ecuadorian race walker who competes in both the 20 km and 50 km walk events. He is the South American record holder in the 50 km and 20,000 metres walking events.
Cai Zelin is a Chinese male racewalker. He finished 4th at the 20 km walk during the 2012 London Olympics, and won the silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. He finished 5th at the 2015 World Championships in the 20 km race walk. In 2019, he competed in the men's 20 kilometres walk at the 2019 World Athletics Championships held in Doha, Qatar. He did not finish his race.
Caio Oliveira de Sena Bonfim is a Brazilian racewalker. In the 20 km walk, he was a silver medalist at the 2024 Olympic Games and a bronze medalist at the 2017 and 2023 World Championships. He also finished 4th at the 2016 Olympic Games. His mother, Gianetti Bonfim, was also an international racewalker for Brazil.
Athletics at the 2020 Summer Olympics were held during the last ten days of the Games. They were due to be held from 31 July – 9 August 2020, at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo, Japan. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the games were postponed to 2021, with the track and field events set for 30 July – 8 August. The sport of athletics at these Games was split into three distinct sets of events: track and field events, remaining in Tokyo, and road running events and racewalking events, moved to Sapporo. A total of 48 events were held, one more than in 2016, with the addition of a mixed relay event.
Érica Rocha de Sena is a female racewalker from Brazil. In the 20 km walk, she took 4th place at the 2017 World Championships, and 7th place at the 2016 Summer Olympics. She is the only Brazilian to win a medal at the IAAF World Race Walking Team Championships, after inheriting the 20 km race bronze in the 2016 race, held in Rome.
Massimo Stano is a male Italian racewalker. He competed in the 20 kilometres walk event at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics in Beijing, China, finishing in the 19th position, and the same event at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan, finishing in first place. On 24 July 2022, Stano won the 2022 World Athletics Championships with a championship record.
Federico Tontodonati is a male Italian racewalker who won six international medals at senior level at the race walk competitions. He competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in 20 km walk.
Manuel Esteban Soto Ruiz is a Colombian male racewalking athlete who competes in the 20 kilometres race walk. He represented his country at the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2012 IAAF World Race Walking Cup.

Vasiliy Vitalyevich Mizinov is a Russian racewalking athlete. He won a bronze medal in 20 kilometres race walk at the 2018 European Athletics Championships. Representing the Authorised Neutral Athletes at the 2019 World Athletics Championships, he won a silver medal in 20 kilometres walk. At the 2020 Summer Olympics, taking place in Tokyo, Japan in 2021, he was disqualified for going off-course.
Karla Johanna Jaramillo Navarrate is an Ecuadorian racewalking athlete. She won a gold medal in 20 km walk at the 2019 South American Championships in Athletics, setting Ecuadorian record and South American record in 20 km track walk. She placed eighth in women's 20 kilometres walk at the 2019 Pan American Games. Representing Ecuador at the 2019 World Athletics Championships, she placed 18th in the women's 20 kilometres walk.
Priyanka Goswami is an Indian athlete who competes in the 20 kilometres race walk. She represented India at the Tokyo Olympics, finishing in 17th position. She won the silver medal in the 10,000 meters walk at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. She is the first Indian woman to win a medal in race walk with a silver in the 10,000m event. She qualified for the Paris Olympics by meeting the mark at the Indian Open National Race Walking Competition in Ranchi on 14 February 2023.
