David Lee is a Trinidad and Tobago politician from the United National Congress (UNC). He is a member of the House of Representatives. [1]
Lee holds a doctorate degree in engineering. [2] He was elected MP for Pointe-à-Pierre in the 2015 general election and re-elected in 2020.
In Parliament he was opposition Chief Whip. [3] In 2022,he was arrested and charged with fraud,conspiracy and misbehaviour. [4] [5] The charges were in connection with the purchase of a $2.3 million Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 and whether the tax exemptions derived from the sale may have benefited a party financier. [6] In April 2025,the trial collapsed. [7] He claimed political persecution and thanked his party leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar for her support. [8]
In the 2025 Trinidad and Tobago general election,he changed constituency to stand in Caroni Central. [9] He was elected and was appointed Minister of Housing by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar. [10]
He is of Chinese descent. [11]
