David Eugene Lucas Sr. (born April 23,1950) is an American politician. He is a member of the Georgia State Senate from the 26th District,serving since 2012. He is a member of the Democratic party. [1] Prior to being a Senator,he served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1974 to 2011. Lucas is also a founding member of 100 Black Men of America. [2] He is the father of gridiron football player Al Lucas who died during a game while playing for the Los Angeles Avengers. [3]
Rebecca Ann Felton was an American writer,politician,and slave owner who was the first woman to serve in the United States Senate,serving for only one day. She was a prominent member of the Georgia upper class who advocated for prison reform,women's suffrage and education reform. Her husband,William Harrell Felton,served in both the United States House of Representatives and the Georgia House of Representatives,and she helped organize his political campaigns. Historian Numan Bartley wrote that by 1915 Felton "was championing a lengthy feminist program that ranged from prohibition to equal pay for equal work yet never accomplished any feat because she held her role because of her husband."

Although he initially opposed secession and was elected as a Unionist in 1860,he nonetheless voted to secede in that year,and represented Georgia as a Confederate senator during the conflict.
Lillie Louise Lucas is an American politician serving as a Virginia state senator,representing the 18th District in the southeast region of the state since 1992. The 2026 United States Senate elections are scheduled to be held on November 3,2026,with 33 of the 100 seats in the Senate being contested in regular elections,the winners of which will serve six-year terms in the United States Congress from January 3,2027,to January 3,2033. The Republican Party decisively won every single statewide office in Georgia except for the Federal Senate race which narrowly went Democratic in 2022.
