David Turcotte (born July 10, 1965 in Ottawa, Ontario) is a former star Canadian basketball player and former Olympic athlete.

Biography

Turcotte attended Lockerby Composite High School in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, where he played hockey and basketball for the Lockerby Composite High Vikings.

He attended Colorado State University (CSU) where played on the men's basketball team from 1984 to 1988. [1] Under Turcotte's leadership, the Colorado State Rams took third place in the 1988 National Invitational Tournament. Turcotte scored 1,508 points while at Colorado State University, which is the fifth most total points scored by any player in school history. [2]

After obtaining a law degree, Turcotte began practicing law in 1993 and retired from playing professionally in 1995. [1]

Turcotte is a co-founder and chairman of the National Basketball Teams Alumni Association, an association for former men's and women's Canadian National Basketball Team members created to preserve the history and culture of basketball in Canada. [3] [4] With the Association, they created an online archive of every team, player, coach, referee, trainer and manager who ever represented Canadian basketball internationally. [5] [4]

The Western Mustangs are the athletic teams that represent Western University in London, Ontario, Canada. The school's athletic program supports 46 varsity teams. Their mascot is a Mustang named J.W. and the school colours are purple and white. Western University offers 21 varsity sports for men and 19 for women which compete in the OUA conference. Robert Bowlby Blake is a Canadian professional ice hockey executive and former player. He is the current general manager of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was originally drafted by the Kings in 1988, appearing in the 1993 Stanley Cup Finals, winning the James Norris Memorial Trophy and serving as team captain for five seasons in his initial 11-season stint with the club. In 2001, Blake was traded to the Colorado Avalanche and was a member of their 2001 Stanley Cup championship team. It was his only Stanley Cup as a player, though he won the Cup again as a member of the Kings' front office in 2014. After a two-season return to Los Angeles, Blake signed with the San Jose Sharks in 2008, retiring as its captain after the 2009–10 season. Four years later, in 2014, Blake was elected into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

The Toronto Varsity Blues men's ice hockey team is an ice hockey team operated by the Varsity Blues athletics program of the University of Toronto.
