The 1983 FIBA Under-19 World Championship (Spanish: 1983 Campeonato Mundial FIBA Sub-19) was the 2nd edition of the FIBA U19 World Championship. It was held in Palma de Mallorca, Spain from 14 to 28 August 1983.

Contents

The United States successfully defended their championship by winning the Gold Medal against the Soviet Union in the final day of the tournament, 82-78. [1]

A 2.02 m, 100 kg (220 lbs.) power forward, he represented Angola at the AfroBasket, where he won a record seven African titles. At the club level, he won five Angolan League championship titles with Primeiro de Agosto and four Angolan Cups, before moving to Benfica in Portugal, where he won seven Portuguese national championships and three Portuguese Federation Cups. He also went on to play for CSP Limoges in France, Baloncesto Málaga in Spain, and Portugal Telecom in Portugal.

The FIBA U18 European Championship, originally known as the European Championship for Juniors, is a youth men's basketball competition that was inaugurated with the 1964 edition. It was held biennially through the 2002 edition. From the 2004 edition onward, it has been held every year. It serves as the qualification tournament for the FIBA Under-19 World Cup, for the FIBA Europe region. The current champion is Spain.

Vladimir Tkachenko Soviet And Russian Professional Basketball player

Vladimir Pyotrovich Tkachenko is a retired Soviet and Russian professional basketball player. Tkachenko won two Summer Olympic Games medals and three FIBA World Cup medals with the senior men's Soviet Union national basketball team. He was also named both the Euroscar and the Mr. Europa in 1979. His club career lasted 16 years. He became a FIBA Hall of Fame player in 2015.

Oscar Schmidt Brazilian basketball player

Oscar Daniel Bezerra Schmidt is a retired Brazilian professional basketball player. He is also commonly known as Oscar Schmidt in Spain, where he played for Fórum Valladolid for the 1993–94 and 1994–95 seasons, and simply Oscar, or Mão Santa, in his homeland. Schmidt primarily played the shooting guard and small forward position, was 2.05 m tall and weighed 110 kg (243 lbs). He was born in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil.
