De Witt Lee Sumners is an American mathematician, having been the Robert O. Lawton Distinguished Professor at Florida State University. [1] [2] He is known for his research in knot theory, topological fluid dynamics, and their application to DNA. [3]
Sumners earned his Ph.D. in 1967 from the University of Cambridge under the supervision of John F. P. Hudson. [4] He retired in 2007, and became a professor emeritus. In 2012, he was named as one of the inaugural Fellows of the American Mathematical Society. [5]
Sir Harold Walter Kroto, known as Harry Kroto, was an English chemist. He shared the 1996 Nobel Prize in Chemistry with Robert Curl and Richard Smalley for their discovery of fullerenes. He was the recipient of many other honors and awards.

Moshe Ya'akov Vardi is an Israeli mathematician and computer scientist. He is a Professor of Computer Science at Rice University, United States. He is University Professor, the Karen Ostrum George Professor in Computational Engineering, Distinguished Service Professor, and Director of the Ken Kennedy Institute for Information Technology. His interests focus on applications of logic to computer science, including database theory, finite-model theory, knowledge in multi-agent systems, computer-aided verification and reasoning, and teaching logic across the curriculum. He is an expert in model checking, constraint satisfaction and database theory, common knowledge (logic), and theoretical computer science.
