Death Is My Only Friend is the fifth studio album by American hardcore punk band Death by Stereo, released in July 2009. It is their first album in four years, since the release of Death for Life in 2005, the longest gap between Death by Stereo's studio albums to date.
Writing and recording sessions for Death Is My Only Friend lasted for almost two years, making it the longest time Death by Stereo has ever spent making an album. Writing for the follow-up to Death for Life began in the summer/fall 2006 while original guitarist Jim Miner and original drummer Jarrod Alexander would reunite with the band to work on the album. It was confirmed by frontman Efrem Schulz that this album would be recorded with two drummers, Alexander and Chris Dalley (from Ten Foot Pole). Dalley, who had toured with the band for the last few months since the departure of longtime drummer Todd Hennig, will be doing the bulk of future tours, while Alexander tours with his post-Death by Stereo band A Static Lullaby.
Schulz also confirmed that Miner will be doing random, but will not be doing full tours while promoting this album. However, he would only be writing and recording the album, only months after his recent wrist surgery. Miner's brother, Paul, also returned to the band to play bass on the new album along with the band's current bassist, Tyler Rebbe, who has been recording an album with his other band Pulley.
Death Is My Only Friend also marks the first time that Alexander and the Miner brothers have recorded albums together under the name Death by Stereo since If Looks Could Kill, I'd Watch You Die.
The album's seventh track, "Forever and a Day" is a re-recorded version of the track of the same name from Death for Life .

Day of the Death is the second album by American hardcore punk band Death by Stereo, released in 2001.
Colin Murray Archer is an English musician, best known as a member of the English rock bands Oasis, Beady Eye and Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. He is also known for his work with Heavy Stereo. He joined Oasis as rhythm guitarist in November 1999, and handled lead guitar for acoustic songs as well. He also contributed to the writing of some of the band's songs. Oasis broke up in August 2009, but in November 2009, Liam Gallagher announced he was writing new material with Archer as well as other ex-Oasis members excluding his brother Noel, under the name Beady Eye. After two albums with Beady Eye, 2011's Different Gear, Still Speeding and 2013's BE, the band officially disbanded in October 2014. In 2017, Archer joined Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds as lead guitarist, thus reuniting with former Oasis member Noel Gallagher.
Voodoo Glow Skulls are an American ska punk band formed in 1988 in Riverside, California, United States, by brothers Frank, Eddie, and Jorge Casillas and their longtime friend Jerry O'Neill. Voodoo Glow Skulls first played at backyard parties and later at Spanky's Café in their hometown of Riverside, where they played shows with the Angry Samoans, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Firehose, Murphy's Law, and The Dickies.

The album is centred on the drums, much more so than their other releases. The introductory track is a sound-bite from the film The Lost Boys, of which the band's name is also derived.
Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses is the debut studio album by American metalcore band Atreyu. It was released on June 4, 2002, under Victory Records. The album featured re-worked versions of the songs "Living Each Day Like You're Already Dead", "Someone's Standing on My Chest" and "Tulips Are Better", which originally appeared on the band's 2001 EP, Fractures in the Facade of Your Porcelain Beauty. "Ain't Love Grand" and "Lip Gloss and Black" were released as singles and music videos were also made for these two songs. Efrem "The Bean" Schulz is an American of Mexican descent singer, best known for his work with Death By Stereo. As of Paul Miner's departure in 2005, he is the only remaining original member of the band. He also took over as lead singer of Voodoo Glow Skulls following the departure of "Frank Voodoo" Casillas, and is the frontman for the Chicano-themed punk parody band Manic Hispanic.
Ian Fowles is an American musician, author, and actor, best known as the current guitarist for the Orange County rock band The Aquabats, in which he performs under the stage name and persona of EagleBones Falconhawk. Prior to joining The Aquabats, Fowles was also one of the founding members of the hardcore punk band Death by Stereo.
The Death by Stereo/Ensign split 7" EP was released by Indecision Records in December 2000. It was an interesting release because both bands had left the label. Ensign in 1998 to go to Nitro Records, and Death by Stereo to go to Epitaph Records. At the time, Death by Stereo were recording material for their new studio release, Day of the Death, and Ensign were in New York City producing an EP for Nitro Records, For What It's Worth. They both agreed to record extra tracks for release by the label which had arguably launched their careers.
Death Alive is a live album by American hardcore punk band Death by Stereo. The CD was recorded live at Chain Reaction in Anaheim, California during the Into the Valley of the Death tour. It was originally to be recorded to be given away free with an issue of Law of Inertia Magazine. However, when the band realized that many of their fans did not have a copy of the CD, they decided to re-release it with Reignition Records on March 13, 2007.
Rotting is an EP by the Brazilian extreme metal band Sarcófago. It was released in August 1989. Prior to recording, drummer Eduardo "D.D. Crazy" left the band to join Sextrash and was replaced by Manoel "M. Joker" Henriques. The EP was recorded following a brief tour to promote the band's debut release I.N.R.I. and was licensed to Music for Nations in Europe. The EP's cover was censored upon its release in the US.
