Jason Jeremy Freese (born January 12, 1975) is an American musician and multi-instrumentalist. [1] As a studio musician, he has performed on over 50 albums, mainly on saxophones and keyboards, including for artists Green Day, Dr. Dre, Pitbull, Avenged Sevenfold, Goo Goo Dolls, and Jewel. [2]

Early life

Freese was born on January 12, 1975, in Orange County, California. His father, Stan Freese, was leader of the Disneyland Band in Disneyland Park at the time of his birth, and went on to become a talent booker for the park. [1] His mother, Trisha Freese (later Bridenstine), is a concert pianist and writer. [1] Freese's older brother is drummer Josh Freese. [3] [2]

Beginning at the age of five and seven, Freese and his brother spent their summers at Disneyland while their father worked. [1] They both watched him perform concerts with the Disneyland Band and sometimes participated with plastic instruments. [1] Both boys eventually got jobs shining shoes for the park employees. [1]

Career

Freese became interested in music at age 12, when his father purchased a used Conn Naked Lady saxophone for him at a local swap meet. He began taking lessons from his father as well as Eric Marienthal, who was a member of the Disneyland Band at the time. Freese also played in his middle school and high school marching bands. [1]

At 18, Freese went on a high school senior trip to Orlando, Florida and was invited to jam with the Frankie and the West End Boys—the house band at Pleasure Island at the Walt Disney World Resort. Six months later, the band fired their saxophone player and asked Freese to come back out to Florida and join the band full time. Freese stayed in Orlando for a year playing with the band at Plaesure Island and receiving piano lessons from Pleasure Island piano player Jim Roberts. [1]

When he returned to California, Freese enrolled at California State University, Fullerton. At age 23, Freese was a year and a half away from graduation when an opportunity came up to go on tour with Joe Walsh of The Eagles and he dropped out. Walsh taught Freese how to play the Hammond B3 organ while on the tour. [1]

After the Joe Walsh tour, Freese joined the Goo Goo Dolls. At the time, the Goo Goo Dolls had the same manager as Green Day. [1] Freese has performed as a studio musician and touring member in Green Day since 2004. He has performed on their American Idiot World Tour, 21st Century Breakdown World Tour, 99 Revolutions Tour, Revolution Radio Tour, and Hella Mega Tour and appeared on their live albums Bullet in a Bible and Awesome as Fuck . His performing credits most often consist of saxophone, piano, and keyboards. [2] His credits as a producer include Jewel's 2009 album Lullaby and Death by Stereo's 2009 album Death Is My Only Friend . [2]

Personal life

Freese is married to Amy Freese. [1] They are based in Fullerton, California, and have two sons—Tennessee and Colt. [4] [1]

The Replacements were an American rock band formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1979. Initially a punk band, they are one of the main pioneers of alternative rock. The band was composed of the guitarist and vocalist Paul Westerberg, guitarist Bob Stinson, bass guitarist Tommy Stinson, and drummer Chris Mars for most of its existence. Live in Buffalo: July 4th, 2004 is a live album by the American rock band Goo Goo Dolls. It includes a CD and a DVD, showing their concert in Buffalo, New York from July 4, 2004. The concert included performances of all their major hits, including "Iris", "Name", and "Slide". There are nineteen (19) songs on the DVD total, plus a studio version of their Supertramp cover, "Give A Little Bit" on the CD. The concert was shot and recorded in downtown Buffalo on Niagara Square in front of Buffalo City Hall. As for the concert itself, the performance was enigmatic, garnering comparisons to Talking Heads' Stop Making Sense from members of the band's crew. Over 60,000 fans attended the performance, braving a torrential downpour. The rain cleared in time for the Goo Goo Dolls to start the show, but during their performance of "January Friend", the rain began pouring down again, harder than before. The band played on, finishing the set, despite being pulled off stage briefly for a safety precaution and skipping three songs* that were on the original set list.

Jason White is an American musician, best known for being the touring guitarist of the rock band Green Day, with whom he has performed since 1999. Korel Tunador is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter living in Los Angeles, California. He plays a number of instruments, including guitar, keyboards, saxophone and accordion. Tunador is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated with a degree from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. In Boston, he also started playing guitar, singing, songwriting and touring with the well established Boston band, Shockra. After several years, he moved back to Pittsburgh and played in a number of bands including: Crisis Car, The Crawlin' Low Band, The Johnsons, Lovechild, Margalit and the Liquitones and Opek 15. In 2001, Korel also won an endowment from the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, a Creative Achievement Award grant, as an Emerging Artist.
