Butterfingers are an Australian rap rock group from Brisbane, Queensland. Most of their releases are on their own label, Valley Trash Records. They are currently signed to New World Artists.
The Grates were an Australian indie rock band that formed in Brisbane, Queensland in 2002. They were brought to national attention in 2004 when a demo of their single "Trampoline" received airplay on radio station Triple J. Their first two albums, Gravity Won't Get You High (2006) and Teeth Lost, Hearts Won (2008), both reached the ARIA Albums Chart top 10. Hodgson and Patterson were also proprietors of Southside Tea Room, a cafe and bar, in Morningside; the couple also married in November that year.
The Presets are an Australian electronic music duo of Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes. Formed in 2003 and signed to Modular Records, The Presets released two EPs in advance of their debut album, Beams, released in 2005 to positive critical response. After two years of touring, including as the Australian support for Daft Punk, the band's 2008 release, Apocalypso, debuted at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart, and went on to win six awards at ARIA Awards 2008, including Album of the Year.
Faker are an Australian alternative rock band, formed in 1996 by mainstay Nathan Hudson on lead vocals, piano and guitar. They have released three studio albums, Addicted Romantic, Be the Twilight and Get Loved. Their highest charting single, "This Heart Attack" (2007), peaked at No. 9 on the ARIA Singles Chart. The group disbanded in December 2013, but they announced their reformation in October 2020.
Moo, You Bloody Choir is the third studio album by the Australian indie rock band Augie March. It was released in 2006 in Australia by BMG. It entered the ARIA album charts at #10 and was nominated for Album of the Year at the ARIA Music Awards of 2006, losing to Tea & Sympathy by Bernard Fanning.
Blue King Brown are an Australian urban roots ensemble formed in 2003 in Byron Bay by mainstays Nattali Rize and Carlo Santone. They have released three studio albums, Stand Up, Worldwize Part 1 – North & South – which reached the ARIA Albums Chart top 50 – and Born Free. They have toured nationally and internationally; and supported concerts by Santana, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Damian Marley, the John Butler Trio, the Cat Empire, Silverchair, Dispatch and Powderfinger.
Addicted Romantic is the debut studio album by Australian indie rock band Faker. Record label Capitol Records released the album on 13 June 2005. Four singles were released from the album; "Quarter to Three", "The Familiar"/"Enough", "Love for Sale", and "Hurricane". Of these, "Hurricane" was the most successful; it reached number 21 on the Triple J Hottest 100, 2005. The album spent one week on the ARIA Albums Chart at number 44, on 26 June 2005.
Yves Klein Blue Draw Attention to Themselves is an EP by Yves Klein Blue released on 1 April 2008 on Dew Process. An EP of the same name had been produced by the band themselves for sale at local shows, but was re-recorded and produced by Caleb James, a renowned Australian producer. This subsequent re-release saw the band get picked up by Dew Process. The band's first single, Polka, received regular airplay on alternative radio station Triple J, and was followed by the release of their second single, Silence is Distance. Videos were shot for both of these singles, as well as for The Streetlight, which was curiously left off the label re-release of the EP.
The Rocketsmiths are an indie rock band from Brisbane, Australia and have released three EPs to date. They released their debut EP "Act One. Scene One." in June, 2006 with Sevens Records, and have since released two other EPs, "Meet Horace and Clyde" and "Parts, Pieces".
Ragged & Ecstatic is the debut and only studio album of Australian indie rock band Yves Klein Blue. It was released on 7 July 2009 by Dew Process. It was produced by Kevin Augunas and Caleb James, and recorded the album at Airlock Studios in Brisbane, and Fairfax Recordings in Hollywood. The debut single of the album, "Getting Wise", was included in the Triple J Hottest 100 of 2009 at No. 79.
Cloud Control were an Australian alternative rock band, originating from the Blue Mountains near Sydney, Australia. The band were signed to the Australian record label Ivy League Records, on which they released their first album, Bliss Release. They were also signed to Infectious Music in the UK and Europe, Humming Records in Germany, and to Votiv in North America.
Ball Park Music is an Australian five-piece indie rock band from Brisbane, consisting of Sam Cromack, Jennifer Boyce, Paul Furness, Dean Hanson and Daniel Hanson. Since forming in 2008, the band has released seven studio albums. Their debut, Happiness and Surrounding Suburbs (2011), was nominated for Australian Album of the Year at the J Awards, and its 2012 follow-up, Museum, debuted at number nine on the ARIA charts. Their third album, Puddinghead (2014), was supported by the certified-platinum lead single "She Only Loves Me When I'm There".
Little Scout are an independent band from Brisbane, Australia. They have released two EPs and one album, and have toured with established Australian bands Yves Klein Blue, The Holidays, Holly Throsby, Clare Bowditch and Cloud Control; and international bands Belle and Sebastian, The New Pornographers, Sharon Van Etten, School of Seven Bells and Camera Obscura. Soon after forming in 2008 they were named as one of Triple J's "Next Crop" artists and have been featured on Vimeo, receiving over 69,000 views. Their debut album Take Your Light was released in 2011, to positive reviews.
Snakadaktal was an Australian five-piece indie pop/dream pop band, which formed in 2009 in Melbourne, Victoria and broke up on 16 March 2014. The band consists of Sean Heathcliff, Phoebe Cockburn Joseph Clough (guitar), Jarrah Mccarty-Smith (bass), and Barna Nemeth (drums).
DMA's are an Australian rock band formed in 2012 in Sydney, New South Wales. The band is composed of lead vocalist Tommy O'Dell, lead guitarist Matt Mason, and rhythm guitarist Johnny Took. They originally gained popularity for their debut single "Delete" and for their self-titled EP, which were both released in 2014. The band have since gone on to release four studio albums: Hills End (2016), For Now (2018), The Glow (2020) and How Many Dreams? (2023). All four albums have peaked within the top 10 of the ARIA Albums Chart, with the latter two also reaching the top five in the UK and Scotland.
Dumb Days is the debut studio album by Australian alternative rock band Tired Lion It was released through Dew Process and the Universal Music Group in September 2017. The album was produced by Violent Soho frontman Luke Boerdam. Australian radio station Triple J picked Dumb Days as their feature album of the week in September 2017. While the band didn't chart in the Hottest 100 of 2017, the first three singles charted in the Hottest 200 with Dumb Days, Fresh and Cinderella Dracula coming in at #185, #179 and #150 respectively.
Babaganoüj are an Australian indie rock band formed in 2011 in Brisbane by Charles Sale, Harriette Pillbeam, and Peter McDowell (drums). In 2011 after the dissolution of Sale's former band Yves Klein Blue in 2010, Sale released under the band's name an EP for free of old demos he recorded before the band was formed. In 2012, Jack Glesson joined the band as the new drummer, replacing McDowell. Following the release of their debut EP, Sife Lucks (2013), Ruby McGregor joined as the fourth member as the rhythm guitarist. Gleeson left the band in early 2016, and was replaced by Ritchie Daniell on tour during 2016. Later that year, George Browning joined as the band's new official drummer. The band released various standalone singles during 2012–2015 before releasing a trilogy of EPs: Pillar of Light (2016), Hard to Be (2016) and Clarity Restored (2017).
Waax were an Australian rock band from Brisbane, Queensland that formed in 2012. The band was co-founded by drummer Tom Bloomfield and lead vocalist Marie "Maz" DeVita and original guitarist Elijah Gall, who oversaw every iteration of the line-up. Waax released two studio albums, Big Grief (2019) and At Least I'm Free (2022), as well as two independent EPs: Holy Sick (2015) and Wild & Weak (2017).
Ball Park Music is the sixth studio album by Australian indie rock band Ball Park Music. It was written and recorded in Brisbane throughout the 2019–20 Australian bushfire season, and released on 23 October 2020. The album was preceded by three singles – "Spark Up!", "Day & Age" and notably "Cherub", which polled at number four in the Triple J Hottest 100 of 2020.
Giving the World Away is the second studio album by Australian dream pop musician Hatchie. It was released on 22 April 2022 through Secretly Canadian.
