Crowded House are a rock band, formed in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, in 1985. Its founding members were New Zealander Neil Finn and Australians Paul Hester (drums) and Nick Seymour (bass). Later band members include Neil Finn's brother, Tim Finn and sons Liam and Elroy, as well as Americans Mark Hart and Matt Sherrod, with Neil Finn and Seymour being the sole constant members.
Neil Mullane Finn is a New Zealand singer-songwriter and musician. He is best known for being a principal member of Split Enz, of which he shared lead duties with his brother Tim, and the lead singer, guitarist, and a founding member of Crowded House. He has also been a member of Fleetwood Mac since 2018. Ed O'Brien of Radiohead has hailed Finn as popular music's "most prolific writer of great songs".
Gothic rock is a style of rock music that emerged from post-punk in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s. The first post-punk bands which shifted toward dark music with gothic overtones include Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, Bauhaus, and the Cure.

Split Enz were a New Zealand band formed in 1972. Regarded as the first New Zealand band to gain significant recognition outside of Australasia, they were initially noted for their progressive/art rock sound, flamboyant visual style and theatrical performances. The band later moved toward a pop/new wave sound that yielded the breakthrough hit single "I Got You" (1980). Split Enz broke up in 1984. Since that time, the band has staged several brief reunions.
Brian Timothy Finn is a New Zealand singer, songwriter, musician, and composer. He is best known as a founding member of Split Enz. Finn founded the band in 1972 with Phil Judd and served as lead singer and principal songwriter. Following Judd's departure in 1977, he was joined by brother Neil. Finn wrote or co-wrote some of the band's best-known songs, including "I See Red" and "Six Months in a Leaky Boat". While still a member of Split Enz, he began a solo career, scoring the two hits "Fraction Too Much Friction" and "Made My Day" in 1983; he left the band in early 1984, briefly returning for their farewell tour later that year.
The Hidden Cameras are a Canadian indie pop band. Fronted by singer-songwriter Joel Gibb, the band consists of a varying roster of musicians who play what Gibb once described as "gay church folk music". Gothic metal is a fusion genre combining the aggression of heavy metal with the dark atmospheres of gothic rock. The music of gothic metal is diverse with bands known to adopt the gothic approach to different styles of heavy metal music. The genre originated during the early 1990s in the United Kingdom originally as an outgrowth of death-doom, a fusion of death metal and doom metal. Lyrics are generally dark and introspective with inspiration from gothic fiction as well as personal experiences.
Finn Andrews is a British/New Zealand musician. He is a solo artist and lead singer and songwriter of London-based rock band The Veils. His father Barry Andrews is a current member of Shriekback, was a member of XTC, and also played with Iggy Pop, Robert Fripp and David Bowie.
The Runaway Found is The Veils debut album, released on 16 February 2004. The record was preceded by several singles, from "More Heat Than Light" to "The Wild Son". The last single "Lavinia" was released in November 2003, alongside a first promotional version of the album which featured a different running order and track list. In fact "...& One of Us Must Go" and "Wires to Flying Birds" did not make the final version and were later replaced by "The Wild Son" and "The Valleys of New Orleans". Because of its long gestation the record has three different producers: Matthew Ollivier, Bernard Butler and Ken Nelson. The fourth song on the set, "More Heat Than Light", gives credits to Finn's father Barry Andrews as co-author. According to the booklet notes the last song of the set, "The Nowhere Man", is taken from the 1954 novel by C.S. Lewis "The Horse and His Boy". The song "Vicious Traditions" was featured during the end credits of the 2007 film Mr. Brooks.
Nux Vomica is the second album by The Veils, released on 18 September 2006. It was recorded in Laurel Canyon and produced by Nick Launay, during spring of 2006. A far heavier and darker sound characterises Nux Vomica, very different from the indie sound of the previous record. Most notable are "Jesus for the Jugular", "Not Yet", "Pan" and the title track itself, while more accessible numbers are the singles "Advice for Young Mothers to Be" and "One Night on Earth". A distinctive contribution to this new sound was given by the string arrangements of Jane Scarpantoni, ex member of The Lounge Lizards and long-time Lou Reed collaborator.
Liam Mullane Finn is a New Zealand singer and musician. Born in Melbourne, Australia, he moved to New Zealand as a child. He is the son of musicians Sharon and Neil Finn.
Bill Price was an English record producer and audio engineer who worked with the Clash, the Sex Pistols, Guns N' Roses, Sparks, the Jesus and Mary Chain, Nymphs, the Waterboys, Mott the Hoople and Simon Townshend. He was chief engineer on the first three solo studio albums by Pete Townshend: Empty Glass (1980), All the Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes (1982) and White City: A Novel (1985).
Veil is the fourth studio album by American noise rock band Band of Susans. After establishing their "classic-line up" with their previous album The Word and the Flesh (1991), and recording the EP Now (1992), the band aimed for a new, more sonic and experimental direction on Veil, after the more song-centric approach to The Word and the Flesh. Recording the album in early 1993, Veil shows the band expand the margins of their sound with a more experimental approach. The album was described as "smokey" by one critic and an "epic swell of guitar and noise" by another. The album has been said to combine "R&B rhythms with crushed sonic shards," and has been compared to, and is sometimes considered to be shoegazing music.
Screens is the third and final studio album from Auckland-based "troublegum" group The Mint Chicks and thus far the only Mint Chicks release not to feature bassist Michael Logie. It was released on March 16, 2009 in New Zealand, The Mint Chicks' homeland on Flying Nun Records. It was mixed in Portland, Oregon by the Nielson brothers and Jacob Portrait, with additional mixing by Chris Nielson in Auckland, New Zealand.
Vehicle is the first studio album by New Zealand rock group the Clean. It was released in 1990 by Flying Nun and Rough Trade Records. Much of the material was written for the band's reunion tour in the late 1980s. Rough Trade founder Geoff Travis offered to record The Clean after seeing them play in London, after which Vehicle was produced during a three-day session. The album was engineered by Ken Kennedy and notable producer Alan Moulder, who was suggested by Travis.
Goat Girl is an English post-punk band from South London. Their initial lineup consisted of lead vocalist and guitarist Clottie Cream, guitarist and occasional lead vocalist L.E.D., bassist Naima Jelly and drummer Rosy Bones. UK music magazine DIY describe them as being "imbued with an innate ability to voice the socio-political concerns of their peers with wit and style". In 2019, bassist Holly Hole joined the band, replacing Naima Jelly.
...And Out of the Void Came Love is the sixth studio album by English-New Zealand rock band the Veils. The double album was the band's first in seven years, and includes a cover of Shriekback's "Cradle Song", a song originally written about Finn Andrews by his father Barry Andrews, which Andrews covered to commemorate the birth of his daughter.
