Over the past few years, principal Kamini Bhasin was booked for staff murder, with an FIR registered against her. This happened after a maid committed suicide by hanging herself in the school. The victim was found hanging from a neem tree on August 15 following Independence Day celebrations at the school. Her husband approached Surajpur court stating that despite multiple complaints, FIR was not lodged by the police. He alleged that on August 31, 2019, he submitted a complaint to the Sector 20 police but after they took no action, he took the matter to the Gautam Budh Nagar SSP.
The husband said his wife had told him that the school’s supervisor Prem Kumar harassed her often and made objectionable remarks at her. She complained the same to the school contractor, Girish Jain, who refused to listen to her as well as to the principal, Kamini Bhasin, who threatened to fire her. [3]
Two students were also seriously injured in an incident of ragging in the school hostel, with no action by the school authorities against those accused. The victims – a 15-year-boy hailing from western Uttar Pradesh and a 16-year-old boy from Kolkata alleged that their seniors ragged them on Monday night and when they objected, they were beaten up in the hostel, police said. They were admitted to Kailash Hospital on Monday late night. Police said the victims, as well as the seniors who ragged them, are minors.
One of the victims' father raised questions against the school management saying that the management tried to sweep the matter under the rug and did not act seriously. [4]
