He is the founder and leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, a state party in India. After heading the Telangana Movement, he was the first Chief Minister of Telangana and held the position for almost 10 years.

He was the Chief Whip for Government of Andhra Pradesh from 2009 to 2011 and also served as the Deputy Speaker of Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 2011 to 2014. He is a member of the Indian National Congress party.

Stand-Up India was launched by the Government of India on 5 April 2016 to support entrepreneurship among women and SC & ST communities. Stand Up India Loan Scheme is a government initiative launched by the Government of India in 2016 to promote entrepreneurship and facilitate bank loans to Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) and women entrepreneurs in the country. The scheme aims to provide loans between Rs.10 lakhs and Rs.1 crore for setting up a greenfield enterprise in manufacturing, trading or services sector.

The Praja Bhavan, officially known as Jyotirao Phule Praja Bhavan and formerly as Pragathi Bhavan is the official residence and principal workplace of the Chief Minister of Telangana. It is located at Greenlands Road, Punjagutta, Hyderabad in Telangana. It was built in 2016 under the chief ministership of K. Chandrashekar Rao. It was designed by the Indian architect, N. Niroop Kumar Reddy.

Chandrashekar Rao from Telangana Rashtra Samithi taking oath as the 1st Chief Minister of Telangana on 2 June 2014.

First held on 16 December 2014, this ministry has one of the important portfolios in the cabinet managing the temples in the state. The incumbent Minister for the Department of Endowments for the state of Telangana is Konda Surekha.
