The New South Wales Department of Enterprise, Investment and Trade, a department of the government of New South Wales, delivers services that promote enterprise, investment, trade, hospitality, racing, arts, tourism and sport in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The Department is the lead agency of the Enterprise, Investment and Trade cluster of the NSW government.

The Department was formed on 21 December 2021 following the second arrangement of the Perrottet ministry. [1]

Governing legislation

Structure

The Department is the lead agency in the Enterprise, Investment and Trade cluster, led by secretary, presently Elizabeth Mildwater since October 2022. [2] The Group Deputy Secretary of Tourism, Sport and Arts within the department is presently Kate Foy.

The incumbent secretary was Amy Brown, who was appointed in January 2022 and was the CEO of Investment NSW. [3] Brown was sacked in September that year due to her role in the John Barilaro saga as CEO of Investment NSW. [4] Mildwater was acting Secretary for a month until she was officially appointed in October.

The New South Wales Department of the Arts, Sport and Recreation is a former department of the Government of New South Wales and was previously responsible for a number of cultural and sporting institutions. The Department was formed in February 2006 from the New South Wales Department of Gaming and Racing and the New South Wales Ministry of the Arts and parts of the New South Wales Department of Tourism, Sport and Recreation and was dissolved in 2009. Its former Director General was Carol Mills.

Steven James Robert Whan is an Australian politician who has served as Minister for Skills, TAFE and Tertiary Education since 2023. He has represented the electoral district of Monaro in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for the Labor Party since 2023, after previously representing the seat from 2003 until 2011. He was a member of the Legislative Council from 2011 to 2015. Whan served as Minister of Emergency Services, Minister for Small Business and Minister for Rural Affairs in the Rees and Keneally ministries from 2009 to 2011. Whan lives in Queanbeyan with his wife and two children.

Destination NSW is a New South Wales state government executive agency established in 2011 to support growth of tourism and events in New South Wales, Australia. The agency falls within the Enterprise, Investment and Trade cluster of New South Wales government agencies.

Create NSW is a government agency of the Government of New South Wales, that falls within the Enterprise, Investment and Trade cluster. The agency was created on 1 April 2017 from an amalgamation of Arts NSW (ANSW) and Screen NSW. Create NSW is responsible for administering government policies that support the arts, artists and the various cultural bodies within the state of New South Wales in Australia, and for the provision of funding. It also provides secretarial and administrative support to the Arts & Culture Advisory Committee, a high-level committee which works with the government to help shape policy and promote the arts throughout the state.
