Career

Brin, whose father is from St. Thomas and mother is Trinidadian, was born in Toronto, but raised between Toronto and the US Virgin Islands. [4] Before starting his own company, Brin spent 10 years as the in-house Composer, Sound Editor, and Head of Audio Operations at Visual Productions, a film and television production company, based in Toronto and South Africa. Brin has worked with several of the industry's hottest artists, including Ne-Yo, Dan Hill, Jaheim, RuPaul, Kelly Price, Che'Nelle, Massari, Jane Zhang, Noel G, Dru, Andreea Bălan, Keo, Puya, Keshia Chanté, Kristine W, and Dream Warriors. [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] [12] Brin has been engineer and programmer for hit songwriter Dan Hill since 2004 and programmer for industry heavyweights like Diane Warren (Realsongs), Guy Roche, Jud Friedman, and Allan Rich. Brin's work has been featured on So You Think You Can Dance , The Hills , Degrassi: The Next Generation , Degrassi Goes Hollywood , Wild Discovery , Supermarket Sweep , The Mom Show, Blue Murder, Psi Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal , Cover Guy, The NHL Awards, and Fashion File . [7] [10] [13] He also contributed to Pokémon: The First Movie , Save The Last Dance 2 , Blue Streak, Smokin' Aces , Poker Night, and Replikator . [1] [14]

Brin founded Fierce Music Entertainment Inc., [5] based in Toronto, Los Angeles, and the Caribbean. He is also CEO and creator of iCaribbeanTunes.com, [15] a major portal where the film, television, and video game industries can go to license music from the Caribbean. In 2007, Brin signed an international publishing deal with Ole Music Publishing. [7] In 2009, Brin was appointed to the board of directors of the Urban Music Association of Canada (UMAC) as Director of Artist Relations. [6]

Brin composed music for the television series, Adventures in Evergreen Forest, which won a CANPRO Award for Best Children's Programming. [13]

Brin received Canadian Urban Music Awards for Album of the Year and Best R&B Single. In 2004, he was nominated for Producer of the Year. [14]

In 2007, Brin co-produced the song "Beautiful Surprise" for Philip7, which received a nomination for Best Alternative Song at the Barbados Music Awards. [27]

Emerson Drive was a Canadian country music band consisting of Brad Mates, Danick Dupelle, Mike Melancon (drums), and Dale Wallace. The band was founded in 1995 as 12 Gauge, which consisted of Mates, Pat Allingham (fiddle), Steven Swager, Chris Hartman (keyboards), Dan Binns (guitar), David Switzer (guitar), and Remi Barre (drums); Swager was replaced with Jeff Loberg early on. After recording under this name, the band moved to the United States in 1999 and renamed themselves to Emerson Drive. They released two albums for the former DreamWorks Records Nashville branch: Emerson Drive in 2002 and What If? in 2004. "I Fell In Love With the DJ" is a song by Australian recording artist Che'Nelle from her debut studio album, Things Happen for a Reason (2007). The song was chosen as her first commercial single release. The song was originally written and recorded by Che'Nelle. The artist gained attention of US record producers and later signed an album deal. "I Fell In Love With the DJ" was remixed ahead of its release and Jamaican rapper Cham's vocals added. The song samples the 2005 song "Reggae Bump Bump", performed by American singer R. Kelly. It features "cheeky" lyrics about falling in love with a DJ at a nightclub. To promote the single Che'Nelle completed a US radio tour in forty states. The song did not perform well in the US, only peaking at number 98 on the Pop 100. It fared better in Japan and Europe, with it charting in several countries in the latter territory. Things Happen for a Reason is the debut studio album by Malaysian-Australian singer Che'Nelle. It was first released on 22 August 2007, Japan via EMI Music Japan. An international release followed on 5 September 2007 by Capitol Records. It was her first commercial release after signing with the Capitol Music Group CEO Jason Flom. Sir Charles Dixon served as the album's executive producer, after he discovered Che'Nelle's music online and helped to secure her record deal. The album features productions from James Poyser, Oak Felder, Sean Garrett, Kara DioGuardi and Rich Harrison and The Lab Ratz. Che'Nelle either wrote or co-wrote the entire album. The album was largely mixed by Andrew Dawson. Three songs featured on "Things Happen for a Reason" sample songs performed by other artists.

<i>Luv Songs</i> 2011 studio album by CheNelle

Luv Songs (ラブ・ソングス) is the third studio album by Malaysian-Australian recording artist Che'Nelle. It was first released on 20 July 2011 by EMI Music Japan. Luv Songs is the singer's first cover album. Most of the songs were translated from Japanese into English by Che'Nelle and her team. She worked with past collaborators Derek Brin, Emile Ghantous and Erik Nelson who produced and recorded songs for the album. Che'Nelle worked with EIGO, who produced additional tracks. "Luv Songs" peaked at number 3 on the Oricon albums chart and spent 107 weeks in total on the chart. A digital deluxe edition was released on 30 November 2011 containing additional versions of "Baby I Love U". To promote "Luv Songs", three official singles were released "Sakura", "So Sick" and "Baby I Love U". The latter becoming one of her most successful singles to date selling more than 500,000 digital downloads alone by October 2013, according to RIAJ. The album was certified gold and later platinum by RIAJ in Japan. In 2013, it was re-released as "Luv Songs -Special Edition" with four additional versions of "Baby I Love U", including remixes by DJ Kaori and DJ Komori.

Ovidiu Bistriceanu, known professionally as Ovi, is a Romanian-Canadian songwriter and music producer, best known for his dance-pop productions, urban and pop-rock. His collaborations include singer Mia Martina for Burning which peaked at #8 on Billboard Canadian CHR Top 40 Chart and #25 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 Chart, and Massari for Brand New Day which charted in several countries including Canada, Germany, Hungary and Austria. He has also worked with several other artists and musicians including French Montana, Elena Gheorghe, Andreea Bănică, Mozhdah and Nat Jay.
