Derek Copeland (born January 28, 1991) is an American professional stock car racing driver and team owner who competes part-time in the ARCA Menards Series West, driving the No. 80 Toyota for his own team, Derek Copeland Racing.

Racing career

Copeland has previously competed in series such as the Pacific Challenge Series, the Rocky Mountain Challenge Series, the Super 6 Late Model Challenge Series, and the West Coast Sportsman Series. [1]

In 2023, it was revealed that Copeland would make his debut in the ARCA Menards Series West at Shasta Speedway, driving the No. 80 Toyota for Brian Kamisky. [2] After setting the thirteenth fastest time in the sole practice session, he started and finished in seventeenth place after failing to take the start. [3] [4] He returned to Shasta the following year, [5] where after placing eighth in the lone practice session, [6] he started fifth and finished one lap down in fourth place. [7] [8]

The 2024 Shasta 150 was the 7th stock car race of the 2024 ARCA Menards Series West season, and the 2nd iteration of the event. The race was held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Shasta Speedway in Anderson, California, a 0.375 mile permanent paved oval shaped short track. The race took the scheduled 150 laps to complete. Tyler Reif, driving for Central Coast Racing, would have a perfect race, winning the pole and leading every lap of the event to earn his second career ARCA Menards Series West win, and his first of the season. This was also the first win for Central Coast Racing in the West Series since 2008. To fill out the podium, Sean Hingorani, driving for Jerry Pitts Racing, and Trevor Huddleston, driving for High Point Racing, would finish 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
