Derek Fifi "Wise" Bissue (born December 11, 1992), is a Canadian rapper, singer, and songwriter. He was formerly signed to Canadian singer-songwriter the Weeknd's record label, XO and Republic Records, under the hip hop duo 88Glam with his friend, fellow Canadian rapper 88Camino. [2] [3]

Early life

Wise was born in Toronto on December 11, 1992. He grew up listening to American rappers like Juvenile, Trick Daddy, Stack Bundles, Max B, and LL Cool J. [4] By the age of 20, Wise had moved around Toronto 14 times. [5]

Career

2012: Vacay

In October 2012, Wise released Vacay, [6] his debut mixtape with 16 tracks. [7] The mixtape premiered on DatPiff. [8]

2016: Inglorious

After a year of releasing multiple singles and music videos in 2016, Wise announced his debut album Inglorious on January 21, 2017. [9] [ non-primary source needed ]Inglorious was released on January 30, 2017. [10]

On April 21, 2017, Wise performed at the 2017 Canadian Music Week festival, supporting Bronx artist A Boogie wit da Hoodie. [11]

Wise frequently makes cameo appearances in music videos that feature The Weeknd, most notably in "King of the Fall" and "Reminder". [12]

2017–present: 88Glam

On November 1, 2017, Billboard premiered the music video for "12" from the newly formed duo 88Glam, consisting of Wise and frequent collaborator 88Camino. The music video also featured a cameo appearance by The Weeknd. [13] 88Glam , the self-titled debut project by 88Glam was released on November 7, 2017. [3]

88Glam released 88Glam Reloaded on April 20, 2018, after officially signing to XO and Republic Records. [14] On November 15, 2018, 88Glam released their second album 88Glam2, through XO and Republic. [15]

On March 5, 2020, revealed an upcoming album titled Close to Heaven Far from God which was set to be released on April 17, 2020, through XO and Republic. [16] However, the album has been delayed due to 88Glam's departure from the labels. [17] [18] 88Glam instead released a mixtape independently titled New Mania on June 26, 2020. [19] Close to Heaven Far from God was finally released independently on August 26, 2022, after more than two years of teasing, with major changes from the original tracklist.

On December 11, 2013, Wise was arrested on charges of human trafficking following allegations from a 21-year-old woman. [20] The charges faced by Bissue include trafficking in persons, uttering threats of death and bodily harm, two counts of overcoming resistance by choking, robbery, weapons charges, and three counts of theft under $5,000. [21] Shortly after the charges were dropped, Wise released a track titled "Had to Wake Up" on June 27, 2016, to address the allegations. [22]

Brandon George Dickinson, better known by his stage name Lil Bibby, is an American rapper and record executive. Beginning his career in 2011, Bibby released his debut mixtape in 2013, titled Free Crack. After signing with Kemosabe Records, he followed up the project with Free Crack 2 (2014) and Free Crack 3 (2015). In 2017, he eventually switched focus onto his own record label, Grade A Productions. "XO Tour Llif3" is a single by American rapper Lil Uzi Vert from the extended play Luv Is Rage 1.5 (2017) and debut album Luv Is Rage 2 (2017). It was released on SoundCloud on February 26, 2017, and later on all music streaming platforms on March 24, 2017. The track was produced by TM88, with co-production by JW Lucas. It peaked at number seven on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming Lil Uzi Vert's highest-charting single as a solo artist until the release of "Futsal Shuffle 2020", which peaked at number five. 88Glam2 is the debut studio album by Canadian hip hop duo 88Glam. It was released through XO Records and Republic Records on November 16, 2018. The album features guest appearances from Nav and Gunna. Production was handled by 88Glam duo members Derek Wise and 88Camino, as well as Villa Beatz, AlexOnWeed, Yung Shrimp Tempura, AAA Gray, Joseph L'étranger, Take a Daytrip, Russ Chell, Money Musik, Trouble Trouble, Frost, Rex Kudo, Sevn Thomas, Maaly Raw, Pro Logic, Dez Wright, Cubeatz, and Zancanella. The album was re-released and called 88Glam2.5 on April 12, 2019. It contains two additional remixes of the songs "Snow Globe" and "Lil Boat", which add features from Nav and Lil Yachty, respectively. The album serves as 88Glam's last release under XO and Republic as they split from both labels in early 2020. The album was supported by one single: "Lil Boat", which was released on November 9, 2018. "Price on My Head" is a song by Canadian rapper Nav, featuring vocals from Canadian singer-songwriter the Weeknd. The song was released through XO Records and Republic Records as the second single from Nav's second studio album, Bad Habits, on March 26, 2019. The song marks Nav and the Weeknd's second collaboration since Nav's single, "Some Way" from his self-titled mixtape (2017). The song was produced by Derek Wise from Canadian hip hop duo 88Glam and AlexOnWeed.

Amir Esmailian, also known as Cash and Cash XO, is an Iranian-Canadian music industry executive, talent manager, and record producer. He is the co-founder of XO Records and the co-manager of the label's primary artist, singer the Weeknd. He has executively produced albums and songs for artists such as Nav and The Carters.
