Background

DeSales Catholic traces its roots to two high schools, all-girls St. Vincent Academy and St. Patrick's School for Boys. St. Vincent Academy was established by the Sisters of Providence of Vancouver in 1864. St. Patrick's School for Boys was established in 1865 by the Christian Brothers. St. Patrick's was renamed LaSalle Institute in 1899. The two schools merged in 1930. The school moved to its current campus in 1959 and was renamed (Saint Francis) DeSales High School. [3]

DeSales High School was a Catholic school established in 1912 in the Diocese of Rochester. It was located in the northern sector of Geneva, New York. DeSales High's mission was "to provide an academically excellent education in an intimate, faith-filled community". It was the only Catholic high school in the Finger Lakes region. DeSales closed on July 31, 2012 by the Diocese of Rochester due to financial struggles and decreasing enrollment. The final Senior class graduated in the centennial of the school.

La Salle Academy is a private, Catholic all boys high school run by the Eastern North American District of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools in the borough of Manhattan, New York City. It was founded by the Christian Brothers in 1848. The school was first named Saint Vincent's School when it opened on Canal Street. It moved to Second Avenue in 1856 and changed its name to La Salle Academy in 1887. In 2010 La Salle relocated to 215 East 6th Street, sharing the building with St. George Ukrainian Catholic School. Various offices are still located in the Second Street building. Throughout its history, La Salle has been home to thousands of "Brothers' boys".
