The administrative division of Oman contains eleven governorates (muhafazah):
Ad Dakhiliyah is one of the eleven governorates (muhafazah) of Oman with Nizwa town as the regional center. It was previously a region (mintaqah). It became a governorate on 28 October 2011.
Thumrait is a small town and wilayat (province) of the Dhofar Governorate in southern Oman. In ancient times Thumrait was an important point on the Arabian peninsula's caravan routes. A third wilayat, As-Sunaynah, was created from parts of the two. Sayyid Saud bin Hilal bin Hamad al-Busaidi has been governor since 2020.

Muqshin is a wilayat or province of Dhofar Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman. It is located in the northeastern corner of the Dhofar Governorate, on the southeastern outskirts of the Empty Quarter desert, adjacent to the international border with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is 345 kilometers from the city of Salalah and is connected to the main asphalt road that connects the Dhofar Governorate to the rest of the Sultanate’s regions.
