In Libya there are currently 106 districts, second level administrative subdivisions known in Arabic as baladiyat. The number has varied since 2013 between 99 and 108. The first level administrative divisions in Libya are currently the governorates (muhafazat), which have yet to be formally deliniated, but which were originally tripartite as: Tripolitania in the northwest, Cyrenaica in the east, and Fezzan in the southwest; and later divided into ten governorates.
Yemen is divided into twenty-one governorates (muhafazah) and one municipality (amanah):
A wilayah is an administrative division, usually translated as "state", "province" or occasionally as "governorate". The word comes from the Arabic root "w-l-y", "to govern": a wāli—"governor"—governs a wālāya, "that which is governed". Under the Caliphate, the term referred to any constituent near-sovereign state.

Al Buraimi Governorate is one of the 11 governorates of Oman. The area was part of Ad Dhahirah Region until October 2006, when a new governorate was created from the Wilayats (Provinces) of Al Buraymi and Mahdah. A third wilayat, As-Sunaynah, was created from parts of the two. Sayyid Saud bin Hilal bin Hamad al-Busaidi has been governor since 2020.

Al-Qābil is a village in Al Buraimi Governorate, in northwestern Oman. A small agricultural village on the edge of the Wahibah Desert, Al Qabil lies about 25 km (16 mi) south along the Muscat-Sur Highway from Al Ain across the border in the United Arab Emirates. The village lies south of Mazyad and Al-Zahir, west of Hisn Mazyad, and 10 km (6.2 mi) northwest of Al-Mintirib. Described as a "prosperous market village", Al-Qabil lies at a curve in the road before "descending into the Sa'dah basin from the west". The village is said to contain populations of Al Bu-Shamis group of the Na'im who moved into the village from across the border with the Emirates. Wadi Sarin is said to flow nearby.

Al Dhahirah Governorate is one of the governorates (muhafazah) of Oman. It was previously a region (mintaqah), and became a governorate on 28 October 2011. The largest city in the governorate is Ibri.
Dhank is a wilayah (province) of Ad Dhahirah Governorate in Oman. It borders the provinces of Al Buraimi on the northwest, Ibri on the southwest and Yanqul on the east. It has many valleys, such as Wadi Al Fateh and Wadi Qumeirah.
