Dhemaji Engineering College (DEC) was established in 2020 by the government of Assam at Tekjuri, Dhemaji district, Assam. The foundation stone of Dhemaji Engineering College was laid in 2011. [1] On 22 February 2021 Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally inaugurated the college. [2] The college starts to offer B.Tech degree from academic year 2020–21. The college is accredited by All India Council for Technical Education. The institution is affiliated to Assam Science and Technology University.

History

The Government of Assam established Dhemaji Engineering College in 2020, and it's located in a beautiful, serene area away from the hustle and bustle of the Dhemaji town. To get in, you need to clear the Assam CEE exams held every year. The college offers B.Tech programs in Mechanical, Civil, and Computer Science & Engineering, and is affiliated with Assam Science and Technology University. Also, it's been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education. The college has been functioning since 2020, and it's the seventh state government engineering college in Assam.

Affiliation

The undergraduates courses, Batchelor of Technology affiliated to Assam Science and Technology, [3] and are approved by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi .

College has three undergraduate hostels, one for girls and two for boys.

Guest House

College Guest House is nearby the Playground and surrounded by greenery. It can accommodate guests coming outside from college.

Canteen

College has two canteens, one inside the Academic Building and one inside the Guest House.

Training and Placement Cell

Training and Placement cell of the college plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between industry and academia. The Training and Placement cell of the college helps students with training programs, group discussions, mock interviews, and online tests to prepare them for the industry. The college has also signed MoUs with several organizations like TRTC, Assam Startup, NPTI etc.

Assam Combined Entrance Examination (Assam-CEE) is a state-government controlled centralized entrance examination, conducted by the Assam Science and Technology University for admission into the seven premier government engineering colleges in Assam. The test is taken after the 12th grade for admission to graduation courses. The exam can be taken by those who studied Pure Science stream in plus two level with the specific subjects tested in the examination, which are Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics. Every year approximately 25,000 - 40,000 students take the examination, and it is increasing every year. Students of both Assam Higher Secondary Education Council and the Central Board of Secondary Education board take the test. Formerly the examination was conducted by Dibrugarh University and since 2018 it is conducted by Assam Science & Technology University. It was previously known as the Assam Joint Admission Test (Assam-JAT) until the year 2012 and comprised both engineering and medical entrance examinations. Since then, the medical section of JAT was known as Assam Medical Entrance Examination (Assam-MEE).

Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology, Tezpur (GIMT-Tezpur) is a private institute offering degree level technical courses in the State of Assam is a Private college established by Shrimanta Shankar Academy (SSA) Society and Government of Assam, India.
