The People's Republic of China, the previous host of the 2008 Olympics at Beijing, competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, the United Kingdom, between 27 July and 12 August 2012. This was the nation's ninth appearance at the Summer Olympics since its debut in 1952. A total of 396 Chinese athletes, 171 men and 225 women, were selected by the Chinese Olympic Committee to compete in 23 sports. For the fourth time in its Olympic history, China was represented by more female than male athletes.

Diving was contested from March 10 to March 11 at the 1951 Asian Games in National Stadium Swimming Pool, New Delhi, India. Only two countries entered the competition. The host nation India won both gold medals, Iran finished second in medal table by winning one silver and one bronze.

Jack David Laugher is a British diver competing for Great Britain and England. A specialist on springboard, he competes in individual springboard events, and in synchronised events with Chris Mears, Daniel Goodfellow and Anthony Harding. Laugher and Mears became Britain's first diving Olympic champions by winning a gold medal in the men's synchronised 3m springboard event at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, an achievement many had expected double world 10m champion Tom Daley would achieve first. A week later, Laugher won a silver in the men's individual 3m springboard at the same Games, becoming the first British diver to win multiple Olympic diving medals at the same Games.

Bryan Nickson Lomas is a former Malaysian diver. Lomas was the youngest Malaysian athlete to qualify for 2004 Summer Olympics when he was 14. He became the country's first world junior diving champion after winning gold at the 3 m springboard event in the World Junior Championships held at Belém, Brazil in 2004. He trained under the coaching of Yang Zhuliang. Lomas is named after the footballer Bryan Robson by his father.

Cheong Jun Hoong is a retired Malaysian diver. She won a silver medal in the synchronised 10m platform event with Pandelela Rinong at the 2016 Summer Olympics. At the 2017 World Aquatics Championships, she became Malaysia's first diving world champion after winning the 10m platform event.

Weightlifting was contested from 20 November to 29 November 1982 at the 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi, India. The competition included only men's events for ten different weight categories.

Aquatics at the 2013 Southeast Asian Games took place in Wunna Theikdi Swimming Pool, Naypyidaw, Myanmar for Swimming, Diving, Zayyarthiri Swimming Pool for Water Polo between December 6–21.

Nur Dhabitah binti Sabri is a Malaysian diver. She is the youngest Malaysian diver to champion two senior international competitions.

Diving competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto were held from July 10 to 13 at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre. Due to naming rights the arena were known as the latter for the duration of the games. Due to Pan American Games being scheduled to be held roughly around the same time as the 2015 World Aquatics Championships scheduled for Kazan, Russia, the diving begin on the day of the opening ceremony. A total of eight diving events were held: four each for men and women.

Matthew Lee is a British diver and Olympic gold medallist. Adept in both individual and synchronised diving, and across both 3-metre springboard and platform, Lee won the gold medal in 10-metre platform at the 2015 European Games, the mixed 10-metre synchronised platform at the 2017 European Diving Championships and has twice been European junior champion on the 3-metre springboard. At world level, Lee won the silver medal in the mixed 10-metre synchronised platform event at the 2017 World Championships, and at the 2019 World Championships, Lee and Tom Daley won bronze in the 10 m synchro event, as well as gold in July 2021 at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Minami Itahashi is a Japanese diver. She has represented Japan at various international events since the age of 14, including the 2015 World Aquatics Championships and the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Grace Elizabeth Reid is a Scottish diver representing Scotland and Great Britain, and specialising in 1 metre and 3 metre springboard disciplines. She is a world championship silver medallist in the 1 metre springboard, twice a world medallist in the 3 metre mixed synchronised 3 metre springboard discipline, a double gold medallist at both the European Championships and the Commonwealth Games as well as a multiple minor medallist in both those events, the European Games and the FINA Diving World Cup. Domestically, Reid is a three-time national champion.

Diving at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships was held between 14 and 22 July 2017 in Budapest, Hungary.

The diving competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima took place from August 1 to 5, 2019 at the Aquatics Centre. It was one of four aquatic sports at the Games, along with swimming, water polo, and artistic swimming.
