Djibouti Air was an airline based in Djibouti. Its logo depicted the Djibouti spurfowl.
Djibouti Air was owned by the government of Djibouti as well as a private investor from the United Arab Emirates. [2]
The airline began operations on March 3, 2011, with a flight to Dubai from Djibouti. [2] During that month, it also launched six weekly Djibouti–Dubai flights via its dual-class Boeing 737 aircraft. [3]
In February 2012, the airline suspended its only scheduled services from the Djibouti-Ambouli International Airport to Dubai International Airport. [4]
The airline only flew to Dubai, but had plans to launch flights to Ethiopia, Somalia, Yemen, Kenya, Malaysia, East Asia, Europe. Additionally, it was set to offer more frequent flights throughout the Middle East.

Eritrean Airlines is the national airline of Eritrea. Based at Asmara International Airport, it is wholly owned by the government of Eritrea. Scheduled service had been discontinued since 2008, and the airline operated only a few hajj flights every year. The airline was restarted under new management in 2011. In 2011, Nasair, a privately owned company, merged with government-owned Eritrean Airlines, to form Nasair Eritrea. Eritrean Airlines has been banned from flying into the European Union (EU) since December 2012. As of July 2023, Eritrean Airlines had no scheduled service.
Air Djibouti, also known as Red Sea Airlines, is the flag carrier of Djibouti. It first flew in 1963 and ceased all operations in 2002. In 2015, the airline was relaunched, first as a cargo airline and then, in 2016, with passenger services as well. It is headquartered in the capital, Djibouti.

Avelo Airlines is an American low-cost airline headquartered in Houston, Texas. It previously operated charter flights as Casino Express Airlines and Xtra Airways before transitioning to scheduled operations and rebranding as Avelo Airlines on April 8, 2021. The airline's first scheduled flight under the Avelo name was on April 28, 2021 from Hollywood Burbank Airport to Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport.
