During the shooting of the film, a misinterpretation of the Tamil dialogues of the film crew led to them being mobbed by Bajrang Dal. [3]

Soundtrack was composed by Sadhu Kokila. [4]

Release

The film was scheduled to release on 17 January 2003, [5] but the film ended up releasing a day earlier. Although the film was a box office success and ran for fifty days, [6] the film was not as big a success as it was thought to become. [7]

Reception

A critic from Viggy wrote that "Don is a must see movie for Shivanna's fans". [8] A critic from IndiaInfo wrote that "Apart from Shivaraj Kumar this film has nothing to offer". [9]

The film is an adaptation of the stage play Kaalahasti Charitre written by T. N. Balakrishna for the Gubbi Veeranna Nataka Company, which was based on the folk tale of the hunter Kannappa who proves his extreme devotion to the Hindu God Shiva by gouging out both his eyes.

The film's soundtrack was composed by S. A. Rajkumar. It was released on 7 December 2001. The film is a remake of the Malayalam film Darling Darling (2000) and was a box office failure.
