Donald E. Meehan (born April 10, 1951) [1] is a Canadian National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA) hockey player agent.
Meehan earned his bachelor's degree at Sir George Williams University. At McGill University, during his final year of law school, Meehan played for the Redmen as a wide receiver under coach Charlie Baillie. [2]
After earning his law degree (LLB 1975) at McGill, Meehan was hired by Toronto law firm Blaney, Pasternak. Most of the cases he originally dealt with were corporate and tax-related. The firm also had some ice hockey players as clientele.
Declining the offer of a partnership from his law firm, Meehan decided in 1981 to create his own company that focused on hockey players. Named Newport Sports Management Inc. and operated in a partnership with fellow agent Pat Morris, it represents over 100 NHL players. [3]
Instead of approaching players that are already in the National Hockey League (NHL), Meehan approached the families of young talents before they were drafted by the NHL. One of the first young talents Meehan was an agent for was the talented centre Pat LaFontaine—LaFontaine hired Meehan a few months before he entered the 1983 NHL Entry Draft.

The Sutter family, originally from Viking, Alberta, Canada, are one of the most famous families in the National Hockey League (NHL). Six brothers: Brent, Brian, Darryl, Duane, Rich and Ron, reached the NHL in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Four brothers, Brian, Duane, Darryl and Brent, have gone on to become coaches and general managers as well, with Brian, Darryl, and Brent each having a stint as head coach of the Calgary Flames. A seventh brother named Gary is said by his brothers to have been the best hockey player of all seven boys. Rather than making his living as a hockey player, Gary stayed home to work on the family farm, as Rich remarked on an episode of the Canadian sports show Off the Record.
Richard Park is a South Korean-born American former professional ice hockey forward who played 14 National Hockey League (NHL) seasons with six different teams. He was formerly a player development coach for the Minnesota Wild organization. Park is currently the assistant coach of the South Korea men's national ice hockey team under head coach Jim Paek.

Nicholas Lawrence Bonino is an American professional ice hockey center for the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League (NHL). He has also played for the Anaheim Ducks, Vancouver Canucks, Pittsburgh Penguins, Nashville Predators, and Minnesota Wild. Bonino was born in Hartford, Connecticut and grew up in Newington before moving to Farmington.
Matthew Richard Bartkowski is an American professional ice hockey defenseman who is currently playing for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League (AHL).
The 2011–12 Vancouver Canucks season was the 42nd season in the modern Canucks history. The Vancouver Canucks were the defending Western Conference champions and three time defending Northwest Division champions. The Canucks opened the regular season against the Pittsburgh Penguins at home on October 6. Their final regular season game was held at Rogers Arena against the Edmonton Oilers on April 7, 2012. The Canucks entered the season expected to again contend for their first ever Stanley Cup. The Canucks struggled out of the gate, hovering around .500 until roughly the 20 game mark due to weak defensive play and a slow start from Roberto Luongo. The Canucks then rebounded, playing their best hockey of the season from the end of November until the beginning of January. The team dominated much like they did the season prior during this stretch, as goals came in bunches and the offense was backed up by strong goaltending from the tandem of Luongo and Cory Schneider. The peak of the Canucks' season came on January 7, 2012, in a game against the Boston Bruins, a 2011 Stanley Cup Final rematch. The Canucks prevailed 4–3 in a hard-fought playoff atmosphere, and they seemed to state to the hockey world that they would be heard from again come playoff time. The winning ways continued for the rest of the season, but the team did not play with the same heart they played with that January afternoon again. The Canucks often played down to their competition, barely beating some of the weakest teams in the league as the offense seemed to disappear. The Canucks pulled a shocking deal at the trade deadline, trading blue-chip prospect Cody Hodgson to the Buffalo Sabres for a skilled, but unproven prospect Zack Kassian. While Kassian should eventually emerge as a solid NHLer, this deal was probably pulled too soon as the offensive mojo disappeared but the team was lucky to have outstanding goaltending that led them to their second consecutive Presidents' Trophy on the final day of the regular season when they defeated the Edmonton Oilers. Despite entering the playoffs as the top seed, the Canucks were eliminated in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs in five games by the Los Angeles Kings. This was the third consecutive season the Canucks lost in the playoffs to the eventual Stanley Cup Champion.
Tyler Graovac is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He is currently playing with Dinamo Minsk of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Graovac was selected by the Minnesota Wild in the 7th round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
