Donald Malloy (born November 28, 1955), is an American gospel musician. He first came to prominence singing with the New Jersey Mass Choir and is a featured singer on the group's own 1985 version of the song they had originally recorded with Foreigner, "I Want to Know What Love Is." [1] [2] The following year, Malloy began his solo career, releasing the album, Holy Spirit. [3] However, his solo career truly took off four years later in 1990, with the release of, There Is No Limit, that was released by Atlanta International Records. Malloy released albums in 1993 with Everything Will Be Alright by A&M Records, 1994's Hold on to the Promise with Light Records, Jesus Reigns in 1999 with Savoy Records. All but two of these albums chart upon the Billboard magazine charts, exclusively on the Gospel Albums chart.

Early life

Malloy was born on November 28, 1955, in Cheraw, South Carolina, [4] the son of the deceased, James Robert, and Loreain Malloy, his mother. [5] Malloy was the fifth sibling born in his family, which his mother identified early on he had a musical acumen, and his mother promptly put him in the choir of Pleasant Grove AME Zion Church, where he did solos. [5] Malloy is the music minister at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church that is located in Newark, New Jersey, where Rev. Milton Biggham is the senior pastor. [5] He went to Lincoln Business School, where he graduated with a degree in Business Management. [5]

Music career

Malloy first gained recognition as a member of the New Jersey Mass Choir, who were fresh off of their collaboration with the rock band Foreigner on the 1984/85 number one hit, "I Want to Know What Love Is." Later in 1985, New Jersey Mass Choir released their own version of the tune, with Malloy contributing as one of the featured vocalists on this recording; it was the title track of the group's full-length album from that same year, featuring gospel-infused recordings of other popular mainstream songs from the time.

He began his solo recording music career the following year – 1986 – with the release of his debut album, Holy Spirit. However, he did not experience substantial success until 1990, with the release of There Is No Limit with Atlanta International Records on September 18, 1990,. [6] This album was his breakthrough release on the Billboard magazine Gospel Albums chart at No. 39. [7] His subsequent album with A&M Records in 1993, Everything Will Be Alright, [6] and it charted on the aforementioned chart at No. 27. [7] The third album, Hold on to the Promise, was released on September 13, 1994, by Light Records, [6] again this charted on the aforementioned chart at No. 36. [7] While Jesus Reigns released on November 2, 1993, by Savoy Records, [6] yet it failed to chart. [7]

Personal life

Malloy is married to June, and together they have two children, Jessica and Christopher, and reside in Newark, New Jersey. [5]

He released five albums that charted on the Billboard magazine Gospel Albums chart: He Promised a New Life in 1984 with Savoy Records, 1986's Yesterday, Today and Forever with Sounds of Gospel, 1987's Until the Rapture again with Sounds of Gospel, In Jesus Christ I Have Everything I Need in 1990 also with Sounds of Gospel, and 1994's A Sunday Morning Songbook with Savoy Records. Bishop Jeff Willie Banks, was an American gospel musician and founding pastor of Revival Temple Holiness that was affiliated with The Church of God in Christ. He started his music career, in 1953, with the Famous Banks Brothers, after they were under the tutelage of Mary Johnson Davis from 1947 until 1953. He released his first album, Lord Lift Me Up, that was released by Savoy Records in 1984, which all of his album were released by the label. He would release seven albums, and four of those charted on the Billboard magazine Gospel Albums chart, Lord Lift Me Up in 1984, 1987's Caught up in the Rapture, 1989's The Storm Is Over, He's All over Me in 1993.

Minister Nancey Jackson Johnson is an American gospel musician, and is currently the creative arts director and minister for Greater St. John M.E.R. that is located in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Her first album, Nancey Jackson, was released by Savoy Records in 1991. She released, Free , with Harmony Records in 1997, and this was a Billboard magazine breakthrough release upon the Gospel Albums. The third album, Relationships, was released in 1999 with Harmony Records, and this charted upon the aforementioned chart.

Roy Keith Pringle is an American gospel musician and organist, who is the founder of Pentecostal Community Choir. His first album, "Let Everything That Has Breath Praise the Lord", was released in 1979. He went on to release more albums with Savoy Records, Hopesong Records, Heartwarming Records, Muscle Shoals Records, Malaco Records, and Platinum Entertainment. Five of these albums would chart on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart. He received a Grammy Award-nomination for the song "Call Him Up" that was on the 1980 album "True Victory".

Pastor Alvin A. Darling is an American gospel musician. He started his music career, in 1990, with the release of two albums by Savoy Records, I've Learned to Put My Trust in God and Expect a Miracle. His next album was released by I Am Records in 1992, Medley of Praise, and an album was released with GGI Records in 1994, Hold On...To The Promise. His next two albums, 1995's There's an Answer in Prayer and 1998's Blessing Coming Through for You, was released by Savoy Records. The next four albums, 2005's You Deserve My Worship, 2007's My Blessing Is on the Way, 2009's You Can Make It, and Waiting Right Here, was released by Emtro Gospel Records. He would get five of these album to chart upon the Billboard Gospel Albums chart, and two of them got placements on the Heatseekers Albums chart. His is a GMA Dove Awards and Stellar Awards nominated artist.

Stefanie R. Minatee is an American singer-songwriter, recording artist, minister, and the founder and director of the Rev. Stef and Jubilation choir.
