Donna Jones is a British Conservative Party politician who has been the Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner since 2021. [1]
Jones was a councillor for Hilsea on Portsmouth City Council from 1 May 2008 to 6 May 2021. From June 2014 to June 2018,she was Leader of the council,taking over from Gerald Vernon-Jackson,a Liberal Democrat,when there was a change of political control. He returned to the job in 2018.
While she was leader of the Conservative administration at Portsmouth council,Jones advised Portsmouth F.C. as strategic stadium development consultant. [2] The council also launched an energy company,Victory Energy,which entered into a £100,000 sponsorship deal with Portsmouth F.C. [3] In 2020 Victory Energy was wound up with losses of £3.5 million, [3] following attempts by the council to sell the company. [4]
In the 2019 general election,while still serving as a councillor,Jones was the unsuccessful Conservative candidate in Portsmouth South. During the campaign,she received criticism from political opponents for flying in a plane over the constituency,with a banner attached stating "Vote Donna Jones - Get Brexit Done",instead of attending a candidates' hustings on climate change. Jones remained as a councillor and as leader of the Conservative group in Portsmouth until the 2021 Portsmouth City Council election on 6 May,when she stood down. However,in the 2021 England and Wales police and crime commissioner elections on the same day,Jones was elected as Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. [6] Jones was re-elected in the 2024 election. [7]

As a geographical entity distinct from the mainland, the Isle of Wight has always fought to have this identity recognised. The Isle of Wight is currently a ceremonial and Non-metropolitan county and local government is by unitary authority. The island is also the highest populated Westminster constituency in the country.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary is the territorial police force responsible for policing the counties of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight in South East England.
The 2012 police and crime commissioner elections were polls held in most police areas in England and Wales on Thursday 15 November. The direct election of police and crime commissioners (PCCs) was originally scheduled for May 2012 but was postponed in order to secure the passage of the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 through the House of Lords. The government considers the elected commissioners to have a stronger mandate than the "unelected and invisible police authorities that they replace". The elections took place alongside by-elections for the House of Commons in Cardiff South and Penarth, Corby and Manchester Central, and a mayoral election in Bristol.

Robert Moelwyn Jones, CBE was a British Labour politician who served as a member of Wolverhampton City Council from 1980 to 2013 and as the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner from 2012-14.
Julia Rosemary Mulligan is a British Conservative politician who was the first North Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner, elected on 15 November 2012. Mulligan stood as the official Conservative Party PCC candidate and previously served as a local district councillor, in Craven, where she lives. She also stood for parliament in the 2010 general election.
Simon Alexander Hayes is a British politician. He served as the Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire Constabulary from 2012 to 2016. He was the first person to hold the post and was elected on 15 November 2012 as an Independent. He received 47,632 first preference votes from an electorate of nearly 1.5 million on a turnout of 14.6% at the PCC Election in 2012. Hayes was one of the minority Independent PCCs country and as such has no party-political affiliations.

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police and Crime Commissioner, previously Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner, is the police and crime commissioner, an elected official tasked with setting out the way crime is tackled by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary in the English counties of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The post was created in November 2012, following an election held on 15 November 2012, and replaced the Hampshire Police Authority. Gerald Vernon-Jackson CBE is a Liberal Democrat politician in Portsmouth, England. He was the leader of Portsmouth City Council between 2018 and 2023, and 2004–2014, and councillor for Milton Ward since 2003.
Elections of police and crime commissioners in England and Wales were held on 6 May 2021, on the same day as the Senedd election in Wales and the local elections in England. This was the third time police and crime commissioner elections have been held. The elections were originally due to take place in May 2020 but were postponed by 12 months in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. Turnout was an average of 34.1% across the elections, with Wales having much higher turnout mainly due to the simultaneous Senedd election held across Wales, whereas only parts of England had simultaneous local elections.
Elections to Isle of Wight Council took place on 6 May 2021 as part of the 2021 United Kingdom local elections. These were held at the same time as the elections for the Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner. The elections saw the Conservatives lose control of the council, losing seats against the national trend for the party.

The 2024 Winchester City Council election will take place on 2 May 2024 to elect members of Winchester City Council in Hampshire, England. This will be on the same day as other local elections across England and Hampshire's and the Isle of Wight's Constabulary Police and Crime Commissioner election.
