Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite is a Nigerian politician, medical doctor, and financial expert who became Minister for Industry, Trade and Investment of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2023. [2]

Early life and education

Dr. Doris Uzoka Anite hails from Orsu-Obodo, Oru Clan, Oguta LGA, Imo State, Nigeria. She had her education in the medical field at the University of Benin and became a qualified medical doctor in 1999. [3] Subsequently, she earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification.

Career

She started her career in banking at the Zenith Bank Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) unit then headed the Human Resources and Training department. In 2011, she changed to Treasury and was later named the bank's treasurer in 2017. [2] March, 2021, she was appointed as the Commissioner for Finance and Co-ordinating Economy in Imo State by the executive governor of the state, Senator Hope Uzodinma. [4] [5]

On July 27, 2023, she was one of the first 28 nominees of President of Nigeria Bola Tinubu sent to the Senate for screening. [6]

On Monday, August 21, 2023, She was inaugurated as the Minister for Industry, Trade and Investment of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by President Bola Tinubu. [7] [8]
