Dorothy Samali Hyuha is a Ugandan diplomat, educator, and politician. She is the High Commissioner (Ambassador) of Uganda to Malaysia. [1] She previously served as Minister Without Portfolio in the Cabinet of Uganda. [2] From 2006 until 2011, Hyuha served as the Butaleja District Woman MP in the Ugandan Parliament. During the same time-frame, she concurrently served as the deputy secretary general of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) political party. [3]

Career

Hyuha was first elected to the Uganda Parliament in 1996 as a representative of Tororo District, a post she held until 2006. After Butaleja District was carved out of Tororo District in 2006, she won the parliamentary seat of women's representative for Butalehja District on the NRM party ticket. She held that position until she lost the seat in 2011 to Cerinah Nebanda. [3] From 2009 until 2011 she served as Minister Without Portfolio. [2] In August 2012, Hyuha was appointed Uganda's High Commissioner to Tanzania, [4] where she served until August 2017 and transferred to Malaysia under the same role. She is currently serving at the High Commission of the Republic of Uganda to Malaysia. [5]

Personal details

She is a member of the ruling NRM political party. She was married to Daniel Hyuha, who died in December 2014 at age 68. [6] They owned three homes in the Butalja District. [3]

Jenipher Kacha Namuyangu, also Jennifer Namuyangu Byakatonda, but commonly referred to as Jennifer Namuyangu, is a Ugandan politician and environmentalist. She belongs to the National Resistance Movement political party. She is the Minister of State for Local Government in the Ugandan Cabinet. She was appointed to that position on 6 June 2016. She previously served as the Minister of State for Water Resources, from 1 June 2006 until 27 May 2011. In the Cabinet reshuffle on 27 May 2011, she was dropped from the cabinet and was replaced by Betty Bigombe. She also served as the elected Member of Parliament for Pallisa District Women's Representative, from 2001 until 2011. In 2010, Pallisa District was split into two, to create Kibuku District. Namuyangu contested for the parliamentary seat of Kibuku County, Kibuku District. She lost to Saleh Kamba by a wide margin.

Geraldine Namirembe Bitamazire is a Ugandan academic and politician. She is the Chancellor of the Uganda Management Institute. She was minister of education from 1979 to 1980 and again from 2005 to 2011. She also served as the member of parliament representing Mpigi District women in the Ugandan Parliament from 2001 to 2011.

Rukiya Kulany Chekamondo, sometimes spelled as Rukia Kulany Chekamondo, is a Ugandan educator and politician. Prior to that, from 1 March 2015 until 6 June 2016, she served as Cabinet Minister for National Security. Irene Nafuna Muloni is a Ugandan electrical engineer, businesswoman and politician and also a Senior Presidential Advisor to Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. She was previously Cabinet Minister for Energy and Minerals in the Ugandan Cabinet until December 2019, serving from 27 May 2011. She retained her position in the new cabinet after the 2016 national elections. Richard Todwong is a Ugandan politician. He is the Secretary General of the National Resistance Movement He was the Minister Without Portfolio in the Ugandan Cabinet. He was appointed to that position on 15 August 2012. He replaced Nasser Sebaggala who was appointed in May 2011, but was rejected by parliament. Richard Todwong was also the elected Member of Parliament for Nwoya County, Nwoya District.

Cerinah Nebanda (1988–2012) was a member of the parliament of Uganda, representing the Butaleja District Women's Constituency. Her death at the age of 24, in December 2012, sparked political controversy.
