Dorset Collegiate (officially called Dorset Collegiate High School) is a school in Pilley's Island, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. [1] The principal is Pam Kelley and the vice principal is Alex Hutchings.

The school is in Division B of the 3A Provincial Slo-Pitch Tournament [2] and Division A of the 3A Boys Volleyball Provincials. [3] The school also participates in the annual Under 14/16/19 Atlantic Team Qualifier badminton tournament [4] and the 3A Ball Hockey Tournament. [5] In 1978, Dorset Collegiate participated in a student exchange program with Riverdale High School in Montreal, Quebec. [6] In 2008, Dorset Collegiate hosted the annual review of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets. [7] In 2009, Courtney Woodford, a Dorset Collegiate student, won the Miss Talent title at the Miss Teen Newfoundland & Labrador Pageant. [8] The school's 2009 graduation ceremonies were cancelled due to the death of Jonah Winsor, the captain of the school's hockey team. [9] Winsor died in a single-vehicle accident near the school. [10] He was driving a Kawasaki motorcycle at the time. [11]

The Central West Junior Hockey League was an ice hockey league in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The league consists three teams that compete against each other in an 18-game season. The playoffs include two rounds, the first round is a best of five series, with the winner of each series compete for the Exploits Home Hardware Cup in a best of seven series.

Nova Central School District was a school district headquartered in Gander in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The district had 66 schools located in 50 different communities, and served about 13,000 students, including a significant rural population. The District was formed by the merger of the Lewisporte-Gander and Baie Verte-Central-Connaigre school boards in 2004. The largest school in the district was Gander Academy. The district was replaced by the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District upon provincial amalgamation in 2013.

Pilley's Island is a town located on the island of the same name in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is located in Division No. 8, Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Eastern School District of Newfoundland and Labrador (ESDNL) was the de facto school board for the eastern portion of the island of Newfoundland, in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Its headquarters was in St. John's and there were regional offices in Spaniard's Bay, Burin and Clarenville. The district served approximately 40,000 students with 4,200 staff and teachers. It was amalgamated in 2013 into the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District.

Grand Bruit is a designated place and former settlement in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is on the southwestern coast of the island of Newfoundland. Grand Bruit was resettled in 2010. The community was divided down the middle by a waterfall, hence the name "Grand Bruit" which is French for "great noise".

The UC San Diego Tritons are the athletic teams that represent the University of California, San Diego. UC San Diego has 23 varsity sports teams, as well as esports teams, and offers student participation in a wide range of sports. As of July 1, 2020, all UC San Diego teams participate at the NCAA Division I (DI) level in the Big West Conference. During their time in NCAA Division II and the California Collegiate Athletic Association starting in the 2000–01 season, UC San Diego placed in the top 5 in the Division II NACDA Directors' Cup standings nine times, including three 2nd-place finishes. NCSA Athletic Recruiting ranked the Tritons as the nation's top Division II program for eight consecutive years.

The Miss Teen Newfoundland & Labrador Pageant is a teen pageant based out of St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada. Founded in 1996, the pageant sets out to annually showcase the talents and achievements and build the confidence of the province's brightest young women, between the ages of 13 and 18. It is the longest-running teen pageant in the province, one of the most widely recognized and successful pageants in Canada, and is one of the select few pageant events in Canada to be televised.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Scotties Tournament of Hearts is the Newfoundland and Labrador provincial women's curling tournament. The tournament is run by the Newfoundland and Labrador Curling Association. The winning team represents Newfoundland and Labrador at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

Stacie Curtis is a curler originally from St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. She is a four-time provincial junior champion, three time provincial women's champion and 2007 Canadian Junior champion and World Junior silver medalist.

Anyday was a rock band from Springdale, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The band's music fell into the Christian rock and pop rock genres. The three members of the band were Glenn Thomas, Devin Robinson, and Clint Curtis. The band formed in 2009. On November 14, 2009, Anyday performed alongside Kellie Loder at a benefit concert at Springdale's Indian River High School.

He previously served on the St. John's City Council, having run unsuccessfully in 2008 and 2009, before being elected in 2013.
