Dr. Hemogee Heloi is a 2013 romantic comedy Manipuri film written and directed by Homen D' Wai and produced by Penu Leima. [1] [2] [3] [4] It stars Kaiku Rajkumar and Artina Thoudam in the lead roles. The movie is based on the story concept of Sanakhya Ebotombi. [5]

Dr. Hemogee Heloi was released at Manipur Film Development Corporation (MFDC) in 2013. [6] It was later released at Friends Talkies, Paona Bazar and other theatres of Manipur. [7]

Plot

Hemo is a jobless guy who has completed his doctorate degree in Manipuri. Through a book from Maiba Thambal, Hemo learns to summon the youngest Heloi, whom he named as 'Kusum'. With Kusum's help, he got a job as lecturer. Meanwhile, the romance between Hemo and Kusum also blossomed. But fate has it that they are not destined to be together.

It won three awards at the 3rd Sahitya Seva Samiti Manipuri Film Award (SSS MANIFA) 2014, organised by Sahitya Seva Samiti, Kakching and Film Forum Manipur, at Kakching Khullen Ibudhou Khamlangba Laikol on 21 April 2014. [8] [9]

Soundtrack

G. Surchandra Sharma composed the soundtrack for the film and Deepa Waikhom wrote the lyrics. The songs are titled Nangna Ngasi Khangke Ketharakpa and Chothallo. The songs were choreographed by Babycha Salam.

Chinglen Thiyam was an actor, comedian, lyricist and director of Shumang Kumhei theatre in Manipur. He had acted in over 100 plays and directed around 20 plays. Thiyam had also acted in many Manipuri films. He was popularly known as Commando Chinglen from the Shumang Leela Thawaina Punshigidamak. Not only in digital films, but he had also acted in Manipuri celluloid movies. He was conferred with the Iboyaima Shumang Leela Award in 2020 for his profound contribution in Shumang Leela.
