Dream Factory is an Indian film distribution company based in Chennai. The company was founded in 2014 by six film producers. They have released and distributed films across several regional film industries in India. [2]

History

In July 2014, Dream Factory was formed as a new film distribution and marketing company by six leading producers in the Tamil film industry - K. E. Gnanavelraja of Studio Green, C. V. Kumar of Thirukumaran Entertainment, Elred Kumar of RS Infotainment, S. Sashikanth of YNOT Studios, Abinesh Elangovan of Abi & Abi Pictures and Laxmanan of Prince Pictures. [3] At the launch, the shareholders of the company noted there would be a "scientific approach to better monetise films released across Tamil Nadu" and an overall aim to have "seamless integration between the three arms – production, marketing and distribution of content". [4]

The firm's first release was Sarabham , produced by C. V. Kumar's Thirukumaran Entertainment and Abinesh's Abi & Abi Pictures, during August 2014. [5] Since Sarabham, the team have over seen the release of several films and have worked as distributors to "new-gen" film projects. [6]

Ltd, previously known as Oscar Films. Ravichandran started his venture in 1998 with the co-production of Kadhalukku Mariyadhai. He went on to produce many large-scale Tamil language films and distribute a number of English films across South India.

C. V. Kumar is an Indian Tamil film producer, director and distributor who heads the production studio Thirukumaran Entertainment. Known for producing innovative and critically acclaimed films, Kumar has also primarily introduced new talent into the film industry in terms of actors and technicians. His first three films, Attakathi, Pizza and Soodhu Kavvum won critical acclaim as well as bringing in revenue of over 50 crore (US$6.3 million). After producing successful films, Kumar began work on his first directorial venture in 2014.

Kaththi is a 2014 Indian Tamil-language action social drama film written and directed by AR Murugadoss and produced by Lyca Productions. The film stars Vijay in a dual role with Samantha, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Tota Roy Chowdhury and Sathish. It focuses on Kathiresan, a petty thief and lookalike of Jeevanantham, who attempts to lead a rebellion by farmers from the latter's village, Thanoothu, and helps them fight against an entrepreneur who exploited Thanoothu's water resources.

S. R. Prabhu is an Indian film producer. During his tenure at Studio Green (2010–13), he has produced 10 Tamil films and distributed 16 films in Tamil and Telugu. Later he founded Dream Warrior Pictures, a film production company in which his brother S. R. Prakashbabu has become partner in 2014. He is also a partner in Potential Studios, which is another film production company. S. R. Prabhu is a relative of the veteran actor Sivakumar and cousin of actors Suriya and Karthi.

Sarabham is a 2014 Indian Tamil-language neo noir mystery film directed by Arun Mohan, son of Anu Mohan, Tamil film actor and produced by C. V. Kumar under his banner Thirukumaran Entertainment. The film features Naveen Chandra, Salony Luthra and Aadukalam Naren in leading roles, while Britto Michael as music director. The film opened to positive reviews from critics in August 2014. The movie is loosely based on the 2003 Japanese thriller Game.

<i>Irudhi Suttru</i> 2016 film by Sudha Kongara

Irudhi Suttru is a 2016 Indian sports drama film written and directed by Sudha Kongara. Filmed simultaneously in Tamil and Hindi, with the latter being titled as Saala Khadoos, the film stars R. Madhavan as boxing coach who is ignored by the boxing association, tries to accomplish his dream by training an amateur boxer, Madhi, played by Ritika Singh in her acting debut. Both the Tamil and Hindi versions are produced by S. Sashikanth for YNOT Studios and UTV Motion Pictures, while C. V. Kumar's Thirukumaran Entertainment and Dream Factory distributed the Tamil version and the Hindi version was jointly distributed by Madhavan himself under the Tricolour Films banner along with Rajkumar Hirani Films.

<i>Iraivi</i> 2016 Indian film

Iraivi (transl. Goddess) is a 2016 Indian Tamil-language crime drama film written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj and produced by C. V. Kumar, K. E. Gnanavel Raja and Abinesh Elangovan under their banners Thirukumaran Entertainment, Studio Green and Abi & Abi Pictures, respectively. The film features an ensemble cast with S. J. Surya, Vijay Sethupathi, Bobby Simha, Kamalinee Mukherjee, Anjali, and Pooja Devariya playing leading roles. The plot revolves around three financially struggling men try to overcome their problems, by getting involved in criminal activities though not realising the impact their efforts are having on the women in their lives.

<i>Kavalai Vendam</i> 2016 film by Deekay

Kavalai Vendam is a 2016 Indian Tamil-language romantic comedy film written and directed by Deekay. The film stars Jiiva and Kajal Aggarwal, while Bobby Simha and Sunaina play supporting roles. The film, which is said to be an urban romance "about first love, second chances and relationships", features music composed by Leon James, cinematography by Abinandhan Ramanujam and editing by Suresh. Produced by Elred Kumar, Kavalai Vendam released on 24 November 2016 while its dubbed Telugu version Entha Varaku Ee Prema released on 7 April 2017 to mixed reviews and did average collections.

<i>Theri</i> (film) 2016 film directed by Atlee Kumar

Theri is a 2016 Indian Tamil-language action thriller film written and directed by Atlee Kumar and produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu under the banner V Creations. It is inspired from Mani Ratnam's film Chatriyan. The film stars Vijay, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Amy Jackson. The film's music is composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, with cinematography handled by George C. Williams and editing done by Ruben. In the film, a former police officer is on a mission to protect his daughter from his past enemies.

Leo John Paul is an Indian film editor, specialising in Tamil film industry for which he has been recognized as best editor for 2013 by Tamil Nadu state govt.

S. Sashikanth is an Indian film producer, architect and entrepreneur from Chennai, Tamil Nadu. After studying architecture at university, Sashikanth established the Chennai-based design firm Space Scape in 2002, which became involved in major projects such as the British Council and other residential and corporate building designs. Sashikanth later shifted to film production through the establishment of a production studio, YNOT Studios, and the 2010 release of his first film, Thamizh Padam.
