Duntryleague Passage Tomb is located atop Duntryleague Hill, 1.9 km (1.2 mi) WNW of Galbally, County Limerick. The hill overlooks the River Loobagh valley to the north.

History

Duntryleague passage tomb was built c. 3500 BC.[ citation needed ]

According to legend, it was the burial place of Ailill Aulom (Oilill Olum), a King of Munster.[ citation needed ]

Description

The covering cairn is missing but most of the capstones are still in place. The tomb is aligned north-south. It is built in a style suggestive of similar tombs in Brittany.

The forest plantation on its northern slope, which is composed mainly of Sitka spruce, Scots pine and beech, is a habitat for Sika deer, hares, rabbits and foxes. A number of prehistoric monuments can be found on the slopes of the mountain.

Two Rock

Two Rock is a mountain in Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, Ireland. It is 536 metres high and is the 382nd highest mountain in Ireland. It is the highest point of the group of hills in the Dublin Mountains which comprises Two Rock, Three Rock, Kilmashogue and Tibradden Mountains. The mountain takes its name from the two granite tors that lie to the south-east of the summit. From the summit, which is called Fairy Castle, there are views of much of the Dublin area from Tallaght to Howth to the north while Bray Head, Killiney Hill, the Great Sugar Loaf and the Wicklow Mountains are visible to the south. The summit area is mostly shallow bog while ferns and gorse cover the lower slopes. The mountain is also an important habitat for red grouse.

Creevykeel Court Tomb

Creevykeel Court Tomb is one of the finest examples of a court tomb remaining in Ireland. The monument is located in the N15 Donegal to Sligo road, 200 meters north of Creevykeel cross-roads close to Cliffoney village in County Sligo. The original name for the Creevykeel monument is Caiseal an Bhaoisgin, the Fort of Bhaoisgin, Tober an Bhaoisgin being the name of the well near the cairn. A second megalithic monument existed 300 meters to the north, but it was demolished around 1890.
