E. James "Jim" Ladwig (born April 13,1938) is a retired American politician and businessman. He was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly for twelve years. A Republican,he represented Caledonia,Wisconsin,and northern Racine County.
Ladwig was born on April 13,1938,in Milwaukee,Wisconsin. [1] He graduated from Riverside University High School and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. [1] Ladwig served in the United States Army,worked as a high school teacher,and later became an investment broker. [1]
Ladwig was first elected to the Assembly in 1978,defeating incumbent Democrat Marcel Dandeneau. Additionally,he was Supervisor of the Town of Caledonia,Wisconsin,from 1971 to 1973 and Member of the Racine County Board of Supervisors from 1974 to 1978. [1]
Ladwig is married to Bonnie Ladwig,who ultimately succeeded him after his retirement from the Wisconsin Assembly. They have three children. Their son Jim was Racine County Executive from 2011 to 2014. [2]

The global COVID-19 pandemic struck the U.S. state of Wisconsin in early February 2020. Although Wisconsin has to date experienced 144 deaths per 100,000 residents,significantly fewer than the US national average of 196 deaths,COVID-19 was one of the three leading causes of death in Wisconsin in 2020. On August 25,2021,Wisconsin public health authorities reported 7 day averages of 1,417 new cases and 236 probable cases per day,an increase of greater than 15 fold since late June 2021. This brings the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases in Wisconsin to 651,338. The state's death toll is 7,558,with 30 new deaths over the previous 7 days. As of August 25,2021,12.41% of Wisconsin's residents have been positively diagnosed with COVID-19,the 20th highest per-capita case rate among all US states. January 16's 128 COVID-19 deaths set a new single day record for Wisconsin.
The 2019 Wisconsin Spring Election was held in the U.S. state of Wisconsin on April 2,2019. There was one seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court on the ballot,as well as several other nonpartisan local and judicial elections. There were also a number of local referendums for school funding. The 2019 Wisconsin Spring Primary was held February 19,2019.
The 2015 Wisconsin Spring Election was held in the U.S. state of Wisconsin on April 7,2015. There was a contested election for justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court,as well as several other nonpartisan local and judicial elections and an amendment to the Constitution of Wisconsin to change the process for selection of the chief justice of the State Supreme Court. In addition,the ballot contained a special election to fill a vacancy in the 20th State Senate district. The 2015 Wisconsin Spring Primary was held February 17,2015.
