In March 2024, it was announced that MGM+ had greenlit an adaptation of Stewart's novel as a six-episode limited series, with Ludwig cast as Ish. [1] In April that same year, it was announced that Dukes had been cast as the female lead. [2] In June that same year, it was announced that several other actors, including Aaron Tveit, had been cast in the series. [6]
Alex Maidy of JoBlo.com gave the series a mixed review and wrote that it “has an important message that is worth hearing, but this series squanders its potential.” [8]
Earth Abides is a 1949 American post-apocalyptic science fiction novel by George R. Stewart. The novel tells the story of the fall of civilization from deadly disease and the emergence of a new culture with simpler tools. Set in the 1940s in Berkeley, California, the story is told by Isherwood Williams, who emerges from isolation in the mountains to find almost everyone dead.
George Rippey Stewart Jr. was an American historian, toponymist, novelist, and a professor of English at the University of California, Berkeley. His 1959 book Pickett's Charge, a detailed history of the final attack at the Battle of Gettysburg, was termed "essential for an understanding of the Battle of Gettysburg".
