Eddie Alderson (born October 27, 1994) is an American actor, best known for his portrayal of Matthew Buchanan on the ABC Daytime American soap opera One Life to Live from 2001-2012. [1] Alderson's performance was met with critical acclaim, garnering two Young Artist Award nominations in 2009 and a Daytime Emmy Award nomination in 2012.

Early life

Alderson was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, to Rich and Kathy Alderson. He was raised in Philadelphia, but spent much of his childhood in New York and Los Angeles. [2] His older sister, Kristen Alderson, played Starr Manning on One Life to Live from March 20, 1998 until the show's final episodes in January 2012. [3] [4]

Career

Alderson joined the cast of One Life to Live as Matthew Buchanan on May 10, 2001. He was put on contract with the series in December 2008. [5] [6] He received a 2012 Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Younger Actor for his work on OLTL. [7] He continued to play the role of Matthew until the show's final episodes in January 2012.

In 2007, Alderson appeared with Mark Ruffalo in the film Reservation Road. [8] Alderson later played Sanford Clark in the film Changeling (2008). [9] On television, he guest starred as the friend of a murdered boy on Law & Order . [10] [2]

In 2018, Alderson joined the cast of Powder Burns, a Western audio drama produced by his former One Life to Live co-star, David Gregory. [11]

Personal life

Alderson was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer in November 2016. [12] On April 26, 2017, it was reported that he had finished his first round of chemotherapy. [13] On July 13, 2017, it was announced that Alderson was back in chemotherapy. [14] In September 2019, Alderson completed chemotherapy and was cancer free. [15]

He began dating Sylwia Pracon in August 2016 and they announced their engagement in May 2022. [15]

Roger Howarth is an American actor. He played character Todd Manning on the daytime drama One Life to Live (OLTL); the character earned Howarth a Daytime Emmy Award in 1994, and is cited as an icon in the soap opera genre. He left the series in 2003 and joined soap opera As the World Turns, where he played the character of Paul Ryan until the series' final episode in 2010. Howarth returned to OLTL in May 2011, continuing the role on General Hospital in March 2012. Due to a lawsuit from Prospect Park, Howarth, along with Kristen Alderson and Michael Easton, were forced to exit their roles in March 2013, only to return as new characters in May of the same year. He returned as Franco on General Hospital, the character formerly created and portrayed by James Franco. When the character was written off in March 2021, Howarth returned two months later as a new character, Austin Gatlin-Holt. In addition to his soap opera work, Howarth has guest starred in television shows such as Prey, The Flash and Dawson's Creek.
