Eddie Alderson (born October 27, 1994) [1] is an American actor. He is best known for playing the role of Matthew Buchanan on the ABC Daytime soap opera One Life to Live from 2001 to 2012. Alderson's performance garnered two Young Artist Award nominations in 2009 and a Daytime Emmy Award nomination in 2012.
Alderson was born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. [2] [1] He was raised in Philadelphia, but spent much of his childhood in New York and Los Angeles. [3] His older sister, Kristen Alderson, played Starr Manning on One Life to Live from March 20, 1998 until the show's final episodes aired in January 2012. [4] [5]
Alderson joined the cast of One Life to Live as Matthew Buchanan on May 10, 2001. He was just six years old at the time and he had never acted before. [1] He was put on contract with the series in December 2008. [6] [7] He received a 2012 Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Younger Actor for his work on OLTL. [8] He continued to play the role of Matthew until the show's final episodes, which aired in January 2012. [9]
In 2006, he and Melissa Fumero performed a duet of the song "What Can I Do For You?" on One Life: Many Voices for Hurricane Relief, an album of songs by One Life to Live actors to raise funds for victims of Hurricane Katrina. [10]
In 2007, Alderson appeared with Mark Ruffalo in the film Reservation Road. [11] [12] Alderson later played Sanford Clark in the film Changeling (2008). [13] On television, he guest starred as the friend of a murdered boy on Law & Order . [3]
In 2018, Alderson joined the cast of Powder Burns, a Western audio drama produced by his former One Life to Live co-star, David A. Gregory. [14]
Alderson was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer in November 2016. [15] On April 26, 2017, it was reported that he had finished his first round of chemotherapy. [16] On July 13, 2017, it was announced that Alderson was back in chemotherapy. [17] In September 2019, Alderson completed chemotherapy and was cancer free. [18]
He began dating Sylwia Pracon in August 2016 and they announced their engagement in May 2022. [18]

One Life to Live is an American soap opera broadcast on the ABC television network for more than 43 years, from July 15, 1968, to January 13, 2012, and then on the internet as a web series on Hulu and iTunes via Prospect Park from April 29 to August 19, 2013. Created by Agnes Nixon, the series was the first daytime drama to primarily feature ethnically and socioeconomically diverse characters and consistently emphasize social issues. One Life to Live was expanded from 30 minutes to 45 minutes on July 26, 1976, and then to an hour on January 16, 1978.

Roger Howarth is an American actor. He played character Todd Manning on the daytime drama One Life to Live (OLTL); the character earned Howarth a Daytime Emmy Award in 1994, and is cited as an icon in the soap opera genre. He left the series in 2003 and joined soap opera As the World Turns, where he played the character of Paul Ryan until the series' final episode in 2010. Howarth returned to OLTL in May 2011, continuing the role on General Hospital in March 2012. Due to a lawsuit from Prospect Park, Howarth, along with Kristen Alderson and Michael Easton, were forced to exit their roles in March 2013, only to return as new characters in May of the same year. He returned as Franco on General Hospital, the character formerly created and portrayed by James Franco. When the character was written off in March 2021, Howarth returned two months later as a new character, Austin Gatlin-Holt. Thomas Todd Manning is a fictional character from the American daytime drama One Life to Live (OLTL). Created by writers Michael Malone and Josh Griffith, the role was originated in 1992 by actor Roger Howarth. Todd was a college student and fraternity brother to Kevin Buchanan, Zach Rosen, and Powell Lord. In 1993, following a storyline in which he becomes acquainted with Marty Saybrooke, he initiates a gang rape on her with the help of Zach and Powell. The storyline was considered groundbreaking by television critics. Its main players—Howarth, Susan Haskell (Marty), and Hillary B. Smith —won Emmys in 1994, as did Malone and his writing team. Howarth left the role in 2003; it was recast with Trevor St. John, physically altered by plastic surgery. In 2011, Howarth returned to OLTL; it was disclosed Todd had been taken hostage and St. John's version of the character was really Todd's identical twin brother, Victor Lord, Jr., conditioned to assume Todd's place.
