Edge School is a private school located in the Rocky View County, just west of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Edge School offers training in dance, golf, hockey, soccer, figure skating, basketball, and a flex program for students who would like to pursue a sport other than those currently offered. Edge follows a three-sphere philosophy – academics, athletics and character development of students - which aims to prepare students for either post secondary education or a career in their chosen sport. The school was founded in 1999 by Brent Devost, and combines athletics with a strong emphasis on academics.[ citation needed ]
In 2008, Edge built a new 170,000 square foot facility with complete academic amenities and a sports complex. [2]
The Jim Davidson Sports Complex is an athletic, recreational and community-use facility. Inside the 90,000 sq. ft. complex there are 2 NHL-sized arenas, Founders & Alumni Lounge, gymnasium with 2 NBA-sized courts, high-performance training centre, 3 professional dance studios, golf centre, and a sports medicine clinic. The University of Calgary is a public research university located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The University of Calgary started in 1944 as the Calgary branch of the University of Alberta, founded in 1908, prior to being instituted into a separate, autonomous university in 1966. It is composed of 14 faculties and over 85 research institutes and centres. The main campus is located in the northwest quadrant of the city near the Bow River and a smaller south campus is located in the city centre. Western Canada High School is a public high school in Calgary, Alberta that has operated since 1929. The high school was antedated by Western Canada College, a boys' preparatory school in the style of a British public school that opened in 1903. The College existed until the end of the 1926 academic year when it closed due to financial problems. The Calgary Board of Education purchased the property that year, and by September 1929 completed a group of new school buildings on the site. From 1929 to 1935 academic and technical schools operated independently on the Western property, until which time they merged under a single administration.

Viscount Bennett High School was a combined junior and senior high school in the Richmond neighbourhood of Calgary, Alberta that operated from 1955 to 1985. The city's fourth high school, Viscount was built to accommodate the baby boomer generation and the southwest suburbs that had grown rapidly after World War II. At its peak in the mid-1960s, the school had over 2,000 students. Due to the area's ageing population and the opening of other high schools nearby, after only 30 years Viscount Bennett closed in 1985.
