Publication History

For most of its history, the journal was published by Her Majesty's Stationery Office (HMSO), until 1995 when it changed to Cambridge University Press. [2] Then in 2021 it changed again to the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh in conjunction with the University of Edinburgh’s journal-hosting service. [1]

Notable editors-in-chief of the journal over the years have included: Isaac Bayley Balfour, William Wright Smith, B.L. Burtt, Ian Charleson Hedge, James Alexander Ratter, Brian John Coppins, John Albert Raven, and Mark Fleming Newman.
