Erie County is a county located in the northwestern portion of the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 75,622. Its county seat is Sandusky. The county is named for the Erie tribe, whose name was their word for "wildcat". It was formed in 1838 from the northern third of Huron County and a portion of Sandusky County.

State Route 601 is a north–south state highway in North Central Ohio. A two-lane eastern bypass of Norwalk, SR 601 has its southern terminus at SR 18 southeast of Norwalk, adjacent to Summit Motorsports Park. The northern terminus of SR 601 is at SR 113 in downtown Milan, less than one-quarter mile (0.40 km) east of the junction of SR 113 and the U.S. Route 250 (US 250)/SR 13 concurrency.

Avery is located along US Route 250 near that road's interchange with Interstate 80 and Interstate 90, the Ohio Turnpike. The area is characterized by hotels and some industry. It once had a post office, but is now included in the Milan, Ohio postal zone (44846).
EHOVE Career Center is a public vocational school in Milan, Ohio. EHOVE is an acronym that stands for Erie Huron Ottawa Vocational Education. While Erie, Huron and Ottawa counties are the primary covered counties in the district, the school also serves students in nearby Lorain, Sandusky, and Seneca counties, as well as small parts of Ashland and Richland counties.
Hunts Corners is an unincorporated community in southeastern Lyme Township, Huron County, Ohio, United States. It lies at the intersection of State Route 547 and Sand Hill Road, southeast of Bellevue and southwest of the city of Norwalk, the county seat of Huron County. Its elevation is 768 feet (234 m), and it is located at 41°13′39″N82°45′27″W.
The Firelands Conference is an Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) athletic league located in north-central Ohio. The league was formed in the 1960–61 school year and is named for the Firelands area of the old Western Reserve, where most of the member schools reside. High schools in this conference are located in Ashland, Huron, and Richland counties. Some of the schools' district boundaries extend into the neighboring counties of Crawford, Erie, and Lorain. Most of the founding schools came from the defunct Huron-Erie League.
Dick Stein is the state representative for the 57th District of the Ohio House of Representatives. He is a Republican. The district consists of Huron County as well as Rochester, Wellington, LaGrange, Eaton Estates, Avon and portions of North Ridgeville in Lorain County.
